NGC 6520 on July 7th, 02:06ut. NGC6420 is a well defined open star cluster within the dense galactic center. On the right of the image is an absorption nebula Barnard 86 is also sometimes called the Ink Spot Nebula, from which the stars of NGC 6520 formed The nebula is a Bok globule located about 500 light-years from us. This nebula contains much opaque dust that blocks light from the many stars that would have been visible in the background. Surrounding NGC 6520 is part of the tremendously dense starscape in the bulge of our Milky Way Galaxy and located in the Constellation Sagittarius.

I love your pasge. APOD has recently inspired me to paint some different acryilcs on canvas . These are the first two in a series of unusual skies, called "Aurora over the fjord" and "Air Glow"

Celestial Fireworks at Independence Pass, Independence Mount

Celestial Fireworks erupt over Independence Pass, above the stoic Independence Mountain, high above the Ghost Town of Independence, on Independence Day. Now that just has to be patriotic!
Independence Mountain appears to erupt the milky way across the summer sky with Vega, Altair and Deneb flying at their peak. The summer triangle celebrating the holiday with a fantastic view, directly overhead.
A very unusual view from a ghost town where Colorado miners once viewed the night's celestial fireworks in the late 1870's. Now nothing remains but a few cabins crumbling even as the never ending fireworks continue, 134 years to the day after the discovery of gold and silver in the town named after Independence Day.
Looks like you found the Dark Tower! Excellent image!
