Thanks for that link to the National Geographic, bystander. Great shot of the crocodile, and some interesting astronews, too, particularly about that nearby possibly Earthlike planet.

And Beyond, thanks for the dog video!

Here is a link to a possible Hambone Award winner. I had never heard of such a thing before, but it is kinda interesting.

I think he's going to make onion soup for half the town, or what do you think?

Here's the recipe:

1 large onion, quartered and sliced
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons flour
4 cups chicken broth
4 cups beef broth
8 slices from a crusty baguette
shredded Mozzarella cheese or Swiss cheese
grated Parmesan cheese

How to make the soup:

In a Dutch oven, slowly sauté onions in butter and oil until onions are transparent and turning yellow, but not browned. When tender, turn heat to lowest setting and add flour, stirring until well blended.
Add chicken and beef broths; heat through. Divide among 8 oven safe bowls.
Place a slice of bread on each bowl of soup. Sprinkle equal amounts of the cheeses over bread slices.
Place all bowls on oven rack 4 inches from heat and broil until cheese melts. Serve hot.
Serves 8

Well, with that record onion, it wouldn't serve 8, it would serve 800, I think!

Ann, i think it would be more appropiate to call that bread-cheese and broth soup, with onion. But then, I'm not a Chef.

It's a typical French onion soup. It's pretty good. My best friend, who grows some vegetables of her own, made this kind of onion soup this summer and gave me some. It was good, but - hush - it made my stomach pretty upset afterwards.

Wow; that site has captured everything horrible online that is legal on one page, and tried hard to kick off seizures, too, in those vulnerable to them.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments on the most amazing website on the internet. I think will decline. I find I really don't want to know.

How about Frank and Louie, the two-faced cat, also called the Janus cat (after the two-faced Greek - or Roman? - god). Poor Frank and Louie was/were going to be put down when he/they was/were just a kitten. Now he/they is/are twelve and doing just fine. When you look at him/them from afar, he/they look(s) really fine and healthy, but up close he/they is/are kind of hideous. So what? We accept disabled people, or at least we should accept them. Frank and Louie appear(s) to be a healthy and happy cat/two healthy and happy cats/ in one body. Why not live and let live?
