Thank you very much for the lyrics, Ed!

I love this:
There's only one direction in the faces that I see;
It's upward to the ceiling, where the chambers said to be.
Like the forest fight for sunlight, that takes root in every tree.
They are pulled up by the magnet, believing they're free.
The carpet crawlers heed their callers:
We've got to get in to get out
We've got to get in to get out
We've got to get in to get out.

Mild mannered supermen are held in kryptonite,
And the wise and foolish virgins giggle with their bodies glowing
Bright.
Through a door a harvest feast is lit by candlelight;
It's the bottom of a staircase that spirals out of sight.
I love the reference to Superman and Clark Kent, the superstrong man who is undone by kryptonite, and the biblical parable about the wise and foolish virgins (who giggle, probably as they wait for the bridegroom :wink: ). And I love how the lyrics take us up into the sky, where the trees are pulled up by the "magnet" of their roots in their search for sunlight. And then there is the staircase that spirals out of sight, up or down, and finally the carpet crawlers, such lowly creatures, who live in the softness of the carpet but needs to get in to get out.

Thanks again!

Ann

<<The pansy or pansy violets are a large group of hybrid plants cultivated as garden flowers. The modern garden pansy had its origin in the Iver, Buckinghamshire, estate of James, Lord Gambier, whose gardener William Thompson began about 1813 crossing various viola species with Viola tricolor. A yellow viola, V. lutea, and a wide-petalled pale yellow species of Russian origin, V. altaica were among the crosses that began the new hybrids, today classed as Viola x wittROCKiana.

In William Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream, the juice of a pansy blossom ("before, milk-white, now purple with love's wound, and maidens call it love-in-idleness") is a love potion: "the juice of it, on sleeping eyelids laid, will make a man or woman madly dote (fall in love) upon the next live creature that it sees." (Act II, Scene I see also: Oberon at II, i). Since the cultivated pansy had not yet been developed, "pansy" here means the wild Heartsease, and the idea of using it as a love potion was no doubt suggested by that name. Ophelia's oft-quoted line, "There's pansies, that's for thoughts", in Hamlet (Act IV, Scene V) comes from this tradition: if a maiden found a honeyflower and a pansy left for her by an admirer, it would mean "I am thinking of our forbidden love" in symbol rather than in writing.>>

Orin, that polka would be fun to dance to; thanks! When I was in high school and college, friends and I used to go polkaing often at a place (which still exists) called Blob's Park. Your YouTube reminded me of this Halloween costume from the Washington Post; she's champagne!

BMAONE23 and bystander, I'm always a little surprised when I know a rock/pop tune well enough to have the title of the song start it playing in my head. I'm now listening to an ... ummm... interesting arrangement of Tuesday Afternoon and Ruby Tuesday on the radio in my head; it's not working out so well! :shock:

(; thereby, effectively canceling my own vote).

Ahhh, but you exercised your rights. Now, not only can you complain,
but since you took your mother, you can complain about her, too! :wink: :mrgreen:
