As I've interpreted your quesion, I'd have to say yes to that.
Very good!

With all the hints you've given us, the picture kind of reminds me of Jupiter and its moons - is that getting us anywhere?

Sorry, Puddock, but that is not close. I've been attempting to keep this alive without giving away the farm. I thought that I had provided enough information for someone to land on the APOD, but alas, not to be.
I previously said the crop is not a picture of any celestial object. It is a graphic displaying an observable effect, and I also said it is seen in a click-thru image.
The problem here is choosing the right search keyword, and for this APOD, it happened that one or two "obvious" words do not get you there. My clues have been given to that end; to find the right keyword(s).
This is one of the few APODs where there is one keyword that takes you only to this APOD. Unfortunately, none my clues are pointing you to this one word
OK, so there's another clue!

You post a crop of something that can only be seen on the click-thru full size image and expect it to be easy?
Haven't really been playing, but nice puzzle, alter-ego, and nice catch, Chris.

I like the cannon, but it's a little short on confetti.

Your turn, Chris. Do you have something interesting for us?
