Well, at least one thing about a Cyclone - you don't have to shovel it or blow it away, it shovels and blows YOU away.

So much for 40o temps and getting out and about. Snow this morning.
More snow tomorrow night and Sunday, Tuesday night and Wednesday.
I hope we are not going to make a habit of this. Better than ice, though.

We had it pretty nice yesterday; for a change; and today is also supposed to be in the 30's. Wow; a two day reprieve! It is supposed to snow again, and the temperature drop. Thank goodness we are on the bottom side of winter. I used to think that in the winter you can always put more layers on; and you can only take so much off in the summer. The older I get the more I'm in favor of summer over winter. Oh, I wouldn't mind the winter so much if it wasn't for the snow.

HAH! Orin, i wouldn't mind the winter so much if it wasn't for the cold!!

A few hours ago it was 5-degrees-F. Now It's 40-degrees-F

FINALLY!!, We're getting rid of some of this snow. The storm We're getting today should be mostly rain, ending as snow.

Snowed most of the day yesterday, lightly, no real accumulation. South and East of us got up to 5". More snow tonight and Sunday, mostly in the Southern third of the state. Just trace amounts predicted for OKC.

This is ridiculous. Snow is not supposed to hang around Oklahoma for weeks. It's supposed to go away before we get more. We are not prepared for this. Most streets in OKC are not cleared. Even the Snow Routes are only partially cleared. Side streets are still completely snow-packed. The highways are cleared, but after dark, you are risking life and limb when you exit them. The exits are extremely slick and hazardous after refreezing. That's where most of the accidents are occurring.

Still, I much prefer the snow than the ice storms we have gotten in the recent past. At least the snow didn't topple trees or bring down power lines.

It got up to a whopping 45'-F in the quiet corner of CT. today. Snows been slowly melting for 3-days now. The freezer is becoming more refridgerator like, finally. Maybe now the roofs will stop collapsing.

Hey BMAONE23, California is a good place to learn the Hula. All you gotta do is put on a grass skirt and wait for the next earthquake :!:

Warmer temperatures have all but removed the snow from here. Just in time for the next storm to hit us Tuesday night and Wednesday. NWS predicts 4-10", others are saying 8-12"

We're just having a 4-inch snowfall before the slush and rain hit, so all the icy trees now look white.

Weather Synopsis...A developing winter storm will bring snow into northern Oklahoma this afternoon, reaching southern Oklahoma and adjacent parts of north Texas by early Wednesday. Snow, heavy at times, blowing and drifting snow, and wind chills below zero will make travel hazardous over most of Oklahoma and northern Texas overnight into Wednesday morning. Snow will taper off on Wednesday, but blowing snow and bitter cold will continue into the afternoon.

The last time the state tried to teach me the Hula in this fashion was 22 years ago. Fortunately, Hula lessons are few and far between but snow storms are nearly an annual event in CT and blizzards happen on average once every 5 or 6 years.

The worst is past, with accumulations of 4-6", still with sub-zero wind chill.
Nothing nearly as severe as last week, and warming for the rest of the week.

It's winter in OKLAHOMA
And the gentle breezes blow,
40 miles per hour at 32 below!
Oh, how I love OKLAHOMA
When the snow's up to your butt;
You take a breath of winter air,
And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
You may think I'm a fool.
I could never leave OKLAHOMA
Cause I'm frozen to the stool...

<<The icy fingers of winter 2010-11 reached down into the south central U.S. for the second time in a week, breaking many local records for snowfall in a month that is still only 10 days old. Snowfall totals topped 20 inches in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas, just one week after a Groundhog Day storm coated the region with several inches. Meanwhile, temperatures dropped into the single digits in the American Plains and in Colorado. The storms moved east to dump more snow, ice, and rain in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and the Carolinas.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this clear view of the nation's mid-section at 1:25 Central Standard Time on February 10, 2011. Nearly all of the white in this image is snow and ice, except for a bit of clouds in the lower right (southeast) corner. In the larger image file, the outlines of the Ouachita and Ozark mountain ranges darken the snowy landscape, while river valleys such as the Mississippi appear brighter due to fewer trees. Gray-white areas are often developed, urban landscapes that have been coated by snow; some, however, are just rural areas that received less snow.

Tulsa, Oklahoma, received 5.5 inches of snow on February 9, bringing its total to 20.9 inches for the winter, the snowiest on record. In Oklahoma City, 6 inches fell as well, making February 2011 the second snowiest month (18 inches so far) in the state's records, behind March 1911 (20.7 inches). News outlets reported collapsed roofs on a number of public and private buildings and the state Health Department reported 80 storm-related injuries.

Between 12 to 17 inches of new snow fell in eastern and south central Kansas, and it has snowed as much this February as it usually does for an entire winter.>>

It doesn't mean much. "Color" is a physiological concept, not a physical one. One factor in defining color is brightness. If you look at a bright OIII source, such as a reference lamp in a lab, you'll see a brilliant green color, which many might consider similar to how emeralds look. If you look at a bright OIII source through a telescope, and you have good eyes, you'll see a pale gray-green color. If you have bad eyes, you might see something like bright green- this would be symptomatic of a type of color blindness. As you look at dimmer OIII sources, you'll quickly reach the point where you only perceive shades of gray.
