Still getting rain, still have mild temperatures, still no sign of a freeze. We shouldn't have any flowers left by now, but there are lots of them- fairy trumpets, paintbrush, assorted daisies, sandwort, and more. Including huge clumps of these beautiful tansy asters (our south pasture is full of them).

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

The first item on my “to do” list today was “fix up garden.” Having done most of the hard work last fall, it was just a matter of clearing out winter debris, pulling a few stray plants, and planting the spring bulbs.

Two hours work, tops, right?

Here in Sweden, we had a long and cold winter. March in particular was very cold. But April soon turned warm, and May has been borderline hot.

This means that all deciduous trees are lush and green, and the flowers of early spring, like tulips, are basically already over. But many other flowers are in bloom.

My yellow daffodils were pretty this year and the Irises are taking their turn! My wife and I are looking for some more mumms to fill the bare spots picture taken from internet images

I found this video and I can't resist posting it here. It is a time-lapse video of a blue flower opening its petals. I believe that the flower is some kind of scilla, somewhat similar to this one, which is a scilla siberica. They are common in spring where I live.

Very pretty Ann!

This is pretty much what our wildflowers look like right now. Still getting snow every few days, although the temperatures aren't cold enough to hurt the early flowers (and certainly not a Pasque flower like this, which normally comes up while there's still snow). This is the wettest spring we've had in a good long while, and the flowers (mostly not yet blooming, though) and grass are coming in like crazy. It's going to be a beautiful summer, I think. Thought we'd be kayaking by now, but I guess we need to keep the snowshoes out a bit longer. (Most of the Colorado ski resorts have pushed their seasons well into June, and the high mountain passes that normally open this weekend are going to remain closed for another couple of weeks at least.)

Because we have had such a non-winter, we have quite a few flowers around the house.

I wasn't able to add this picture of an azalea to my previous post, for some reason, so here it is.




























So was it a warm day? Not really, it was only around 6^o C, but I decided I would celebrate the fact that it wasn't going to rain. It's supposed to rain every day for the next eight days or so.

Some of my crocus are blooming and my daffodils are budding! The flower beds need cleaning; but it hasn't been favorable weather for working outside for an old fart like me!
