I took this image during my trip in the Lot region in France, under Bortle 3 skies. The Iris Nebula is an example of reflection nebula, the light source is not the nebula itself, but the central star, the light being scattered by the nebula around it. It is located in the Cepheus constellation at 1300 light-years from Earth.

This is Jupiter and Europa, captured with my C11 and the ASI 462mc. The night had a good seeing, especially for my location. It allowed for some nice details to be captured in the Great Red Spot and in the North Tropical Zone.

Rabbit's Rock is one of the fabulous naturally shaped rock formations in the white desert, Egypt , White Desert Protected Area, is a national park in Egypt, first established as a protected area in 2002. It is located in the Farafra depression, 45 km (28 mi) north of the town of Qasr El Farafra.

There are magnificent rock formations that form from wind erosion. The colors change at times from the sun, a beautiful sight to see.

White Desert Egypt

The Little Rosette Nebula (SH2-170). KG Observatory, Julian, CA.

I decided to go for this object during a relatively unsteady 2 evenings with average FWHM > 2.5". Although Ha detail is a bit light, I think I captured decent depth, especially in the RGB stars.

"SH2-170, also known as the "Little Rosette" Nebula, is an H2 region located in the constellation of Cassiopeia. This region of gas and dust is located about 7500-light years away in the Perseus arm of our Milky Way galaxy.

The bright star at the nebula's center ionizes the surrounding hydrogen gas and causes it to glow."

As always, I want to know "where in the sky" this is. "Fornax" is not enough of a clue. What are those two prominent galaxies at center left? What are their designations? If you don't know that, maybe you can tell me the designation of the bright orange star to the lower left of them (or, to the southeast of them, if north is up). And if you don't know the designation of the bright star either, then perhaps you can tell me the coordinates of the image, and maybe, maybe the coordinates of the two brightest galaxies?

Thank you very much Ann, I'm working on a video that zooms into the area on the sky and explores the Hubble Ultra Deep Field galaxies, in the meantime the coordinates for this image are RA: 3 32 39.046 Dec: -27 47 28.96
The two brightest galaxies are PGC 749724 and PGC 749439.

My software rejected the PGC designations, even though it does accept PGC galaxies. My software did show me two PGC galaxies nearby, PGC 12971 and PGC 12976, but they are 15th magnitude objects. Simbad Astronomical Database recognized PGC 749439 and called it a 17th magnitude active galactic nucleus, but it didn't recognize PGC 749724.

The coordinates that Simbad gave for PGC 749439 are RA: 03 33 20.6036338704 Dec: -27 49 10.267218948.

I managed to get my software to take me to the orange star that is closest to the two most obvious galaxies. But the galaxies themselves are not found by my software. They are simply too faint.

Once again, thanks a billion for revealing this remarkable "cosmic web" structure!

The sunspots AR3092 and AR3093 as seen in H-alpha. 7000 images were aquired, of which 20% were used due to unstable seeing and an imaging session between clouds. The start of the imaging session was at 14:29 UTC on 05.09.2022. Also a color inverted version is attached, as it is easier to understand what is happening.

The Pleiades, Mars and the thunderstorm by Martin Giraud

Here is a composition that I shot during the night of the 28th august 2022 at the Cosmodrome observatory. The Cosmodrome observatory is located in the south of France and is located at the top of a middle mountain that let appreciate a 360° view. During this night the sky was very clear but at the north horizon several thunderstorms were growing. At the beginning I was first shooting the lightning with my 135mm when I realized that the Pleiades was rising right above those fruitful cumulonimbus (there was literally one lightning per second). At the moment I decided to shot a panoramic of the Pléiades, more over Mars was very close to it at this moment so it was one more invitation to shoot this photography.

Mars is in the middle of the pic and you can also see Aldebaran star in front of Hyades stars cluster just above the mountains. You can also see IFN that are dust clouds

For the sky there are 3 pictures, where each one is about 37 min exposure with following settings :
75 pics at ISO-3200, F2.8, 30 sec

For the foreground it shot there are several 10 picture for a stack of the mountains (to minimize the noise) and one shot is used for the thunder, with following settings :
ISO-2500, 10 sec , F2.8

Milky Way Tofino, BC Canada

The Milky Way in Tofino, British Columbia, Canada on the night of August 30th, 2022. One of Canada's most beautiful natural places to visit and a Bortle 2 zone to boot. I used the little ocean inlet full of starfish to mirror the Milky Way above. As above, so below. The foreground is a single 30 second exposure shot at twilight on the Sony A7RII with the Tamron 17-28 F/2.8, and the Milky Way is a stack of 13, 120 second images shot on a full spectrum modified Sony A7R with the Tamron 17-28mm F/2.8 and the Kolari Vision UV/IR Cut with h-alpha and SII bandpass filter. The two images were then recombined in photoshop and polished up in Lightroom.

Colours of Sadr

A two panel mosaic of the nebulous region around the star, Sadr in the constellation Cygnus. Instead of selectively editing the colours to be the mainstream Hubble palette, I let them run wild. Imaged over 11 nights in August of 2022 from Vancouver, Canada. Bortle 8/9 zone.

The Milky Way above Sancerre by Joel Klinger, sur Flickr

Here is a picture of the village of Sancerre (France), taken around 11pm two weeks ago. The landscape is really amazing and despite some high altitude clouds the stars and the Milky Way are beautiful.
In the foreground, you can see some of the numerous vines whose vintages should surely begin soon.
