Summer temperatures on Pluto reach 55K.
Oxygen changes phase from solid to liquid at 54.8K
Fluorine changes phase from solid to liquid at 53.55K
It is possible that this area could be something exotic like a Fluorine or Oxygen ocean and is resurfaced as Pluto warms.

But Methane doesn't change from a Solid to a Liquid until it reaches 90.7K, much warmer than it ever gets on Pluto. Will Solid Methane have a chemical reaction with either a Solid or a Slushy Liquid Fluorine?

Also, I was under the impression that Methane Combustion required O2 and either a Heat Source like Fire or Lightning leading to eventual atmospheric Methane Depletion.
