Then again there are signs at dangerous intersections in this city stating how many pedestrians have been mowed down by hit and runs. I think there must be a lot of people who get away with vehicular manslaughter just because they ran away and no one caught their plates. To be perfectly honest nearly everything in this city intimidates the crap out of me and it has nothing to do with fear of becoming roadkill. I'm a timid little mouse. I go out and my heart races. Haha, I must sound so ridiculous. I must have some kind of agoraphobia. Excuses, excuses...
OK - the bike option is a no go.
How are you with the other suggestions I made?

And, DO you have agoraphobia? Seek diagnosis and treatment. But it might simply be that you are now unused to getting out so feel scared. It is quite normal to feel like that - but it will get worse if you don't start getting some action going.

When you are stuck in a situation like you're in now, you need to understand and accept yourself, but NOT, repeat NOT pander to yourself. Like that trite but true saying goes, you have to feel the fear and do it anyway.

Getting out of a rut is never easy. But where in the instructions did it ever say that life was going to be easy?

By the way, what is Pat's view on all this?

I don't know, I think of a true phobia as being something that debilitates someone. I wouldn't say I'm completely unable to function. Whatever. Pat said I should just move out before him and scout ahead. I told him I didn't want to do that by myself.

Meanwhile, I am transcribing bug labels like a boss. One of the specimens I came across was even from my hometown, Lakeside. I feel strangely misty eyed when I come across one from a locale I was familiar with as a kid.
