Hey, it could be worse. At least he wasn't one of those ensigns given a red shirt.

Since we seem to be seeing things... There is a Dinosaur looking to his left at the bottom just to the right of center. He seems to be looking at a horse that is running away, possibly Chris's or Beyond's???

BUT THE WHOLE THING LOOKS LIKE PAC-MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for posting that picture, eltodesukane! :D

The galaxy doesn't appear in my software. In view of the fact that NGC 602 is a very bright nebula, full of bright point sources (stars), and that any galaxy will have low surface brightness, I think it is unlikely that this galaxy has been recorded or listed in any galaxy catalogs. In fact, no one may have known about this galaxy until Hubble took this picture.

To me the galaxy looks like a lovely, regular, un-barred spiral of Hubble class Sc, the one where galaxies are dominated by their arms. The galaxy resembles the nearby classic Sc spiral M74, in my opinion.

Well, we only round up cows in November. This was in October, checking out the changing aspens. No need for a throwing rope (we don't call them lariats here) on a pleasure ride, never much need for sidearms, except for sport, and those are the gloves I wear when I'm taking pictures in coolish weather, since I can easily manage the camera controls. If it's real cold I go for lined elkskin, but I need to pull one off to take a picture.

I probably don'tneed to understand this - but I would like to! Is this feasible for a non-photographer?

And - many thanks for all the info on how to use BB Codes. I am getting it sussed!

Here's a little video that zooms in on NGC 602: http://www.spacetelescope.org/videos/heic0702a/

And an article on it some might enjoy is here: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 145732.htm

Like the ones who get the red shirts... it seems to have disappeared.
AHA! Our resident Wise Young owl admin seems to have found it with her owl-vision.
