It just started snowing here in N/E Connecticut. Supposed to get 2-4 inches. Well, it's been feeling like winter, now it'll also look like winter. I'd rather it looked and felt like Spring

Hey, it's snowing here, too. Medium-sized clumps of flakes falling and silencing the city as only snow can do.

With winter comes the gas leaks. This happens at least once a year if not more. The trucks left without incident but I took the picture for the cool LED wreath on the front of one of the trucks.

Oh yeah. It only shows up when clicking the picture to make it larger.
Cold weather also brings the inevitable wood-stove fires.

I'm now in debt to mother nature. My thermo meter shows -8 degrees F, -22 degrees C. Maybe I'll be able to pay her back on a hot summer day.

It's now two days from my -8'F post and my thermo meter just hit 40'F YEE-HAA!!

Divide both sides by unknown variable F, then:
40 arcmin = 0.6666 degrees

Or it could be that you used your thermo meter (or heated tape measure) to measure 8 feet on one side and 40 feet on another (multiplied by F).

One doesn't call oneself Nitpicker without reason.

Ever since I stated that I couldn't remember the alt code for typing degrees I have been remembering and using it. °°°! Anyway, you could also just type out the word degrees or deg or nothing at all (40F is better than 40'F). Whatever you do, don't use a prime.

Interestingly, the symbol on your keyboard is, in fact, not an apostrophe at all. Neither is the quotation mark actually a quotation mark. They're actually prime and double prime. Typographers everywhere secretly cringe when we use prime and double prime as apostrophe and quote marks.

So officially, there is no way to "quote" anything with a qwerty keyboard. All we can do is "decorate".

I'd suggest that the symbols on the keyboard are neither... or both. Modern applications are context sensitive, interpreting the keyboard symbol differently, as is appropriate.
