Through the yellow sands of Antares
At a distance of 30,000 light years from the Sun, globular cluster NGC 6144 lies well beyond the dusty regions around the star Antares through which its light shines. This places it about three times further away than the more famous globular cluster M4 located nearby. The light from NGC 6144 travels through a lot of intervening dust as well as the yellow coloured nebula around the bright star Antares and this contributes significantly to its beautiful yellow-red colouring.

A widespread power cut in Malta on 24 June provided a good opportunity to view the night sky...though sadly clouds came up when the crescent Moon had set! The image is superimposed on a 'normal' image shot on June 30 when Jupiter and Venus had their closest approach.

Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex
This image is composed from 3 frames - each frame taken a year apart - a total of 3 years in making!
The project started in 2012 - each year I added another frame and still in 2014 ,I wasn't happy with the outcome.
In May 2015 - I finally was able to add the proper color data.
This is X2 downgrade in the resolution from the original 11677X4046 pixels and still it is a huge image.
Each frame is 90 min of luminance, 30 min Ha and 30 min RGB.
The total time is 7.5 hrs for the whole image...
Imaged with the 16" f3.75 Dream Astrograph.
Apogee Alta U-16M camera.
Imaged from Tivoli farm in Namibia from June 2012 till May 2015.
Please see the (almost) full resolution image here:

Full Moon of July & Temple of Poseidon at cape Sounio, Attica, Greece
Full Moon 15.48 days old, rise behind the ancient Temple of Poseidon,
This is the first Moon of July, capture on 2th July 2015 21:15(UT+3), the Moon was on the left hand(ρ1-Sgr) of Constellation of Sagittarius and it was 371645km (230929miles) away from us, and it was about 4° above the Ecliptic. While the Sun was at the opposite site just 6° under the horizon.
This year July has two full moons the second one is on 31th of July and it call it Blue Moon.
The Moon appears huge because of the telescopic illusion, the Temple was 1540m.(5052ft) away, while the photo shot by a 1000mm f7.7 Telescope.
According to Greek Mythology, Cape Sounion is the spot where Aegeus, king of Athens, leapt to his death off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea.
Archaeological finds on the site date from as early as 700 BC. Herodotus tells us that in the sixth century BC, the Athenians celebrated a quadrennial festival at Sounion, which involved Athens' leaders sailing to the cape in a sacred boat.
