Comet Lovejoy near the open-cluster, the Pleïades, in Brittany France.

I think, this is one of the best opportunities to observe the comet and take a picture of it.
Here is an animation of the Lovejoy comet. Note during the shooting, the disintegration of a meteorite in the atmosphere (at 2s in the video).

Hi everyone,

Although the comet is definitely the big star these days, another event was worth getting up early this morning: a close conjunction between Saturn and the Moon.

I took this image with an Orion ED80CFT refracting telescope + barlow Powermate 2x and a Canon 5D Mark II camera. I used the technique of hand obturation to avoid vibrations.

Once in every 10,500 years. This configuration will not re-appear for 10,500 years based on the period of Comet C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy). So eat your Wheaties and exercise regularly and who knows!
