Amazing image of one of my favourite southern nebulae, I love seeing widefields of NGC 6188 that also show it. However it isn't a planetary nebula or a Wolf Rayet nebula. It is a very rare example of a nebula around an O-type star. The only other one is the Bubble Nebula.

A bright Moon over Vendicari

A Bright Moon enlightens the pillars of the old tunafish factory of Vendicari (sicily-Italy). This echoes a time past when the only light that brightend the night was the ones cast from the moon.

Hi at all!!
This is the first light of my roll-off-roof observatory after 1 year doing the installation. I hope you like it.
Messier 81 (also known as NGC 3031 or Bode's Galaxy) is a spiral galaxy about 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. Due to its proximity to Earth, large size and active galactic nucleus (which harbors a 70 million M☉ supermassive black hole), Messier 81 has been studied extensively by professional astronomers. The galaxy's large size and relatively high brightness also make it a popular target for amateur astronomers

NASA Chandra X-ray Observatory Center Astro Pro-Am: Professional and Amateur Astronomers Join Forces
http://www.rolfolsenastrophotography.com
Credit: X-ray: NASA/CXC/SAO; Optical: Rolf Olsen; Infrared: NASA/JPL-Caltech
The above image is the result of a collaboration between
NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory Center and amateur astrophotographer
Rolf Wahl Olsen.
It is part of a series of professional-amateur collaboration images and was combined by Science Imager Joseph DePasquale from Chandra X-ray Observatory Center, using both X-ray, optical and infrared data.
The image is composed of the following data:
The combined exposure time is in excess of an astonishing 350 hours, or two weeks; more than the Hubble Ultra Deep Field.
Below are links to the official press releases including the other spectacular images in the series (M101, M81 and M51) with optical data by German astrophotographer Detlef Hartmann:
For full details on the Centaurus A Extreme Deep Field project please visit my
Centaurus A gallery
If you are an amateur astrophotographer, or even just an 'armchair astronomer', and would like to get involved with astronomical research then the International Astronomical Union has an excellent page with
information on how to get involved in citizen science projects or Pro-Am collaborations.

I have been having a little fun with the Canon 8-15L mm zoom lens at 8 mm. This image was made of 94 twenty second exposures (Canon T2i / ISO 400 / f/4.5). If you look carefully, a meteor can be seen near 6 o'clock.

This is an image of M46 and M47. Open clusters in constellation of Puppis. M46 has a nice planetary nebula NGC 2438.
