I understand the "cowardly bull" who liked to "smell the flowers" and I can connect it to "of nine" and "irregular", but I don't get the seven. I do get 24 of 27.

Here is what I've gathered up so far:
Ferdinand (the bull) - leads to ¿Magellan? Magellanic clouds?
Possibly something about the Local Group - is one of Mag clouds the 7th of a group of nine?
Mmmm. No. Wikipedia listed about 15 galaxies in the Local Group.

Ah! Discover that Seven of Nine really IS a Star Trek character.

Yes! Ferdinand is one of the nine irregular moons of Uranus. In fact it's the seventh largest of them.

Oops! Sorry, it depends on what you look at. I was using an illustration that showed size but had no actual quantities, so it appeared to be the seventh largest. But looking at a table of masses I see that it is not the seventh but the third most massive (or fifth! *) of the irregulars. On the other hand it has the seventh largest radius, which is what the illustration was illustrating obviously. So Seven of Nine by girth, I should have said.

* Every table I look at has a different value! Some aspects of astronomy are not exact yet. Discovering that is part of the fun of a puzzle like this

I would have said Rhea (daughter of Uranus - sky god - and Gaia - earth mother). But Rhea was married to Cronus, definitely not a harvest god.

The only harvest GOD (not goddess) that I can think of is Roman Mars, whose cult began as a vegetation god protecting the crops. He had a fling with Venus (parents Uranus and Dione/Gaia) but she is definitely one of the classical gods.

So I am stumped.

Rhea is correct.

Cronus was usually depicted with a sickle or scythe, which was also the instrument he used to castrate and depose Uranus, his father. In Athens, on the twelfth day of the Attic month of Hekatombaion, a festival called Kronia was held in honour of Cronus to celebrate the harvest, suggesting that, as a result of his association with the virtuous Golden Age, Cronus continued to preside as a patron of harvest.

Although Rhea was one of the Titans (older gods), she was the mother of Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Hestia, Hera, and Zeus, gods of Olympus (classical gods).

Heracles (Hercules) was the son of Zeus, but he had a mortal mother. Since Hera was the consort of Zeus, she was extremely jealous of Heracles. That relationship was the source of most of Heracles problems. Hera was trying to get rid of him.

I remembered the part about trying to get rid of him, but i forgot about the mortal mother for some reason. Too many years of no Hercules shows, i guess.

I was SO SURE that Cronus had NOTHING to do with harvest (apart from Dad's 'family jewels') that I didn't check it out.
Rhea is of course a moon of Saturn...
