Now you know why I hide my online status. So I can conceal how much time I waste in this section...

:?: I guess I don't see what difference it makes on how much time someone spends in any section! :?

Just a joke, orin. It's kind of silly to come to a forum just for its off-topic section, I guess. I mean, we're all here for the astronomy, right? right?

Well, this is the only forum that does not really relate to astronomy...I guess people like to take a break from talking astronomy and talk about other things, which I think is the purpose of this forum. Actually a good idea.

8-) I love pictures of the day; but the discoveries on the planets and the moons really intrigue me. Day by day I set up a different picture of the day for my wallpaper.

Here's an article about it.http://news.yahoo.com/worlds-biggest-ye ... 04823.html

But how else would you transport $11 million around in your pocket? Pretty convenient, if you ask me.

Until you go to spend it :!: Try buying a coffee and donut at Dunkin donuts, for instance. Even IF they could make change, YOU wouldn't be able to carry it home with you. VERY INCONVENIENT, if you ask me. That's what a checkbook is for :!:

Well, the fun part would come in auctioning it back off and adding on a few more million down the road. :D

Or else, when you want to buy your coffee at Starbucks, you bring out your diamond saw and saw off a sliver of it.

Maybe you'd prefer one of these Swedish 17th century coins. As you can see, you could indeed saw off bits to use as payment. This "coin block" contains five coins for the price of one - or at the very least, you can carry all five of the coins with you without having one of them slip through the hole in your pocket! :D

What are all of those bots, spiders, crawlers and whatnot that appear on the bottom of the index page, topics, and threads? They've been catching my eye for a while now and it would be nice to know what they are.

Orin, you must have missed where it said 9,500 bricks and that they cost $2,600. I guess you were just overwhelmed by the technology.

It's at times like these that I want to call myself a Scandinavian, so that I can sun myself in the glory of the Danes. Lego, of course, is a Danish invention, and the name, "Lego", comes from the Danish expression "leg godt" - "play well".
Image
And not only did the Danish invent Lego, with whose help you can build the whole world from small plastic building blocks, but they also explained quantum theory, thus literally building the entire universe from even smaller and non-plastic building blocks.

And not only did the Danes create Lego and quantum mechanics, but now a physicist working at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen actually, truly built a Lego model of the Large Hadron Collider, the place where physicists search for proof that the fabric of reality is really made of the particles they think it is made of!

Ann (who is baffled at the occasional brilliance of the Danes!)

The Hexagon Secret

I live in "The Quiet Corner" of Connecticut. I've just read an article concerning a "secret" that was kept for many decades on the western side of the state, in a town called Danbury. Now I'm wondering if the title "The Quiet Corner", is just a blatent cover to help hide.... "something".
