M92 GLOBULAR CLUSTER
M92 is one of the brighter globular clusters in the northern hemisphere, but it is often overlooked by amateur astronomers because of its proximity to the even more spectacular Messier 13. It is visible to the naked eye under very good conditions.
According to newer sources, M92 is about 26,000 light years distant, only little more than its brighter apparent neighbor M13.
Messier 92 has a very low abundance of elements other than hydrogen and helium. The cluster is not currently in a state of core collapse and the core radius is about 2 arcseconds.
Only about 16 variables have been discovered in this globular, 14 of which are of RR Lyrae type, while one of them is one of the very few eclipsing binaries in globular clusters, of W Ursae Majoris type.

First noctilucent clouds of the season
Credits: Adrien Mauduit
Even though there is still some doubts about the first display on March 21st, this one is real very recognizable. Type I and II NLC (noctilucent clouds) were visible last night from Denmark (Ordrup strand) from midnight to about 2 am. It wasn't a very bright display like I have seen last year, but it is supposedly normal for the end May. I am looking forward to more displays, and a little time-lapse is evidently on the way!

Regardless common sense, ethics aside, how many times could someone submit the same pics again and again..?. I wonder, what if all of us do the same?

Libration towards the south, which makes a lot of features near the Moon South Pole visible. Always fantastic contrast between the dark maria and the fairer lands around them, with the ejecta rays from Tycho and Copernicus.

2016 Solar Analemma (and a Half) over The Outer Hebrides
Copyright: Giuseppe Petricca
http://www.astrobin.com/292963/0/
In the composition (a six shot panoramic for the background and 56 different solar pictures) we can clearly see two solar analemmas pictured respectively in the early and middle morning. The immediate thought goes to the morning figure (the one on the left) which is complete only for the upper summer half, as a proof of the long dark winter nights here in the upper latitudes.
An experiment that I wanted to try, and that I can surely say has been a success, even if the doubling of everything to capture the two figures is a workload to consider. And the weather surely made all this year long adventure like a lottery win in the end!
This strange figure, with a shape of an 8 or an infinite, the analemma, is caused by the axial tilt of our planet, and by the elliptical shape of our orbit around the Sun. If we take a picture day by day, always at the same hour, the Sun is not in a fixed position, but it slowly climbs up and then down the curve.
