Analemma of the Sun
Copyright: György Soponyai
Two years ago I completed my first two analemma projects from Budapest, Hungary the same location at the bank of river Danube. Sun (
https://www.flickr.com/photos/vanamonde81/11815465285/) and Moon as well (
https://www.flickr.com/photos/vanamonde81/13893278724/).
Then I started thinking about other approaches to record the "8"-shaped curve and decided to take an all-sky photo at local noon (11:44 Central European Time) when the "8" stands vertical position. The project began on 2015-07-23 and completed two weeks ago, on 2016-07-04. I took the photo of the foreground on 2016-01-07 when the Sun was about to leave the bottom part of the curve:
Standing at the bank of river Danube and facing East you can see lots of office buildings, the Hungarian National Theater, the Palace of Arts and the pillars of Rákóczi Bridge (the southernmost bridge of Budapest).
A fun fact: the building of Palace of Arts acted as the headquarter of Chinese Space Agency in moovie "The Martian" and the Rákóczi Bridge is also visible in a small scene..

- Sounio full moon.
FULL MOON RITUAL. 20th of July is my name day and the best gift for myself is a full moon rising behind the ancient temple of Poseidon at Sounio, Greece. Despite capturing this theme repeatedly it is always magical, always different and i wouldn't miss for the world.
The moon was in the middle of the time period between apogee (July 13, 2016) and perigee (July 27, 2016) and with an angular size of 31 arc minutes it looked quite large, together with the moon illusion effect.
The main cause that the moon appears so large in comparison to the size of the temple in the photo is perspective, as the capture was done more than a mile away from the temple.

Super Nova Remnant G082.2+05.3. This is an exceptionally complex area centered at about 20h19m +45d30m east of Deneb in the constellation of Cygnus, and is part of the Cygnux X complex. The SNR is an oval shaped object near the center 1/3 of the image measuring roughly 95'X65'. It is reported as a radio source but with optical spectra that indicate an Optical signature.

Sh2-171 and NGC 7822 is a young star forming region in the constellation of Cepheus. The nebula is said to be some 900 pc distant. Some of the younger components of the system are thought to be only a few million years old.
Color image combines (4) Narrow band filters with
(13) 1200 second exposures for each Cyan ( OIII ), Green ( HAlpha ), and Red ( NII + SII ).

This is a (4) pane mosaic of the area around Deneb, alpha Cygnus. Panels were taken over multiple nights in july 2016. The mosaic covers roughly 6X10 degrees. The image includes SNR G82.2+5.3, Pelican Nebula, Sadr nebula area, NGC6888 and the Soap Bubble to name a few.
