Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws - Lum Ha RGB
NGC 6188 is an emission nebula located about 4000 light years away in the constellation Ara. This area is commonly known as the dancing dragons. It is a starforming nebula filled with young stars, some of which are only a few million years old. They were most likely formed when the last batch of stars went supernova in that area.
The data for this image was captured on two nights - 21 June 2015 and 19 July 2015. This is my first serious attempt at mixing luminance and Ha data, and blending it with a traditional RGB data set. The processing turned out to be a little interesting than I initially thought. The Ha data with its strong signal can both flatten and drastically alter the underlying colour data.
My favourite part of the image is found in the lower left portion where the blue reflection nebula is located. I really like how it is mixed with the subtle pinks hues.

Magnitude 2.05 Mirach (Beta Andromedae) sits almost equidistant from the Andromeda Galaxy, M31 and the Triangulum Galaxy M33.
Two of the local group of galaxies, M31 and M33 can be found easily at this time of year rising in the east after sunset.
I feel that this image gives a unique perspective on our galactic neighbourhood.
A 50mm lens and a dslr were used to capture the widefield.
A refractor and dslr were used to capture the galaxie in details.
Software accurately registered and aligned the three images, and after blending in photoshop the composite was saved as a jpg.
Here are the details:
Creating this image was quite a process, and it involved combining images produced from three different OTA's and two different camera's.
The three elements of the image were as follows:
M31
Nikon D810A
Orion ED80
Orion Field Flattener
EQ6 Pro
Guided with KW Kwiq Guider
Mount and guider controlled with Maxim DL
6 X 3 minutes @ ISO 2500 with LENR on
Stacked in CCD Stack
Processed in Photoshop CC
Image captured Sept 2015
M33
LRGB composite captured with QSI 683WSG and TEC 140
Calibrated and stacked in CCDStack with processing in PS CS6
Image capture Sept 2014
Widefield Mirach
Nikon D810A
50mm Sigma art f/1.4
9 shots at f/2.8, 800 iso, 180 sec
Astrophysics Mach-1 mount
Guided with KW Kwiq Guider
Mount and guider controlled with PHD and Backyard Nikon
Image captured Sept 2015
All three images were registered and combined in Registar.
Further editing was done in Photoshop CC 15 and Lightroom CC 15

This is the third total lunar eclipse in a tetrad on April 4, 2015. Taken in Kudat, Sabah, Malaysia. The eclipse started as the sun set in the west. This is a composite of 41 images with 5 minutes interval.

The Helix Nebula
This image is a narrowband/RGB combination shot on the same night with two scopes side by side. A fast f/3 (RH-200) system shot Ha and OII for three hours, and a little over and hour of RGB was shot with a DSLR (Nikon D810a) next to it after the moon set with an f/7 refractor. The OIII and Ha were mapped to their true colors and combined to add detail and color saturation to the RGB image.
