Summer solstice sunset

Today was the summer solstice and just two hours after the precise time, it was setting time for Thessaloniki Greece. Here is a very carefully calculated and timed image that had many difficulties to be solved. Luckily position calculations worked and weather cleared at the right moment: the sun is only one degree above the horizon here.
Clear skies

Southern Jewels
Copyright: Amit Ashok Kamble
A very rich part of the southern sky, home to the extreme star birth region carina , IC 2944 another star forming region also known as the Running Chicken Nebula and many other star clusters including the jewel box and southern pleiades. Mostly visible in the southern hemisphere, This is one of the busiest region in the milkyway. A hoem to star forming regions, open clusters, most prominent dark nebula and few more.
Total exposure for the image is 122 x 10 = 1220 sec = 20.33 min. I wanted to a bit more on this area but had to leave as it was late and this region was getting close to horizon and light pollution.

Milky Way Core Panoramic

Here is a few Milky Way shots stitched together into a panoramic to show the center of the Milky Way from Buck Bald Mtn, TN. You will notice a few areas missing where i did not get shots but I still love how this turned out. Make sure you zoom in and pan around to see all the star clusters and nebulas in the shot!
Taken with a Canon 60D with 50mm 1.8 lens. Each shot was 30 second exposure. This took about 8 shots to get the area. And this version of the image was scaled down 50% from original.
