A high resolution image of the crater Copernicus on the moon. Moon images are unfortunately rarely APOD, while our moon is still our closest spatial neighbor... This image has a resolution of about 300m per pixel. It was taken with a 11" telescope.

This picture was taken at the 2014 Winter Star Party in the Florida Keys. The Camera used is a Canon EOS T3i digital SLR. Modified by Gary Honis. The
Lens is a Astro-Tech AT111EDT f/7 triplet apochromatic refractor with a 0.8x focal reducer/field flattener. The image was exposed a total of 40
minutes. Tracking with a guided German equatorial mount.

I was all set to get a great time lapse of the spectacular Comet ISON, but it was a no-show. However, Lovejoy is the little blue dot above and to the left of the tree. (And I am standing by the trees in the distance.)
