I don't have and vegtables yet but a couple of more tulips are blooming now! I don't have very many tulips but I do like them!

Looks more like 3-sets of lips to me.

These yellow doronicum daisies are in a raised bed outside the window.

It provides a nice perspective, looking like some kind of exotic miniature forest

My Irisis are starting to bloom! I really like them and wish they would have longer lasting flowers. Hey Ann; The third one is Blue!

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose My climbing roses have started to bloom!

The roses are all bloomed out and the lilies are taking over! I love the yellow one; but the orange and red ones are very nice also! The two tall ones are taller than I am! I'll be able to enjoy them outside my living room window if they don't break under their own weight.

I noticed that my daffodils are starting to poke there way through the ground! They are about two inches tall already! Spring will be here before I know it! I hope!

Well, after two years of not blooming, a new potting mixture, and a couple of different fertilizers, my orchid is finally thriving and is going to bloom again. And it's not going to be the tiny, feeble spike I had last time. It's got not one but two very robust stalks lined with fat buds waiting to open. I set my camera up with my new interval timer to see if I can catch my orchid blooming. I did this once before by manually pressing the button with rather poor results. The timer is incredibly simple and doesn't require me to do anything after initial setup. Hmm, my kind of hobby! I'm anxious to see if setting the flash to fire for each shot will make up for the lack of consistent lighting in the room.

I want some more! The one I have now is plain white... er well natural white, that kind of off-color warm yellow white. It would be interesting to try to pollinate it with a magenta one and see what happens. I have been considering taking a trip to Home Depot with a q-tip and a bottle to grab some pollen.

If you think about it, sexual reproduction in plants is completely gross. They entice insects into becoming their sex slaves with their nectar. Would you carry someone's semen around in exchange for some candy?

Well, the battery was about finished on the camera and I decided to process this first attempt. Not bad, but not great, either. The variable lighting causes a lot of flickering and my interval was too large. I don't have a studio so it's not like I can ever fix the lighting and I wouldn't want to deprive it of its natural sunlight anyway. The flower came out more yellow than I recall it being when I first bought the plant.
...curse the individual who installed that wood paneling!

My ExH1's SO gave me an amaryllis for Christmas, this in a box with the pot, growing medium, bulb. I decided yesterday I should open the box and plant the bulb. I didn't know it was going to start without me! Poor extremely pale green stalk, trying so hard to grow without water and soil and sunlight and warmth! It is now suitable housed and fed. The poor thing!

Aw! I'm glad you got to it before it died. Reminds me of the time my dad and I left some dirt from the lawn in a wheel barrow in the shed and a week later I went in there to see all of these strikingly white sprouts of grass or whatever plants had grown nearly a foot tall in the darkness and desiccated soil.

Geckzilla, I love to watch flowers blooming and open, you did a great job!

My daffodils are getting to be almost 5 inches tall already! I hope we don't get a real heavy snow before spring or they will be drooping under the snow. We got a real light dusting the other day; after the rain, but not enough to make the ground white. The rain meanwhile was not measurable!

I bought a second orchid today. I went ahead with pollinating one flower from each plant with the other's pollina. Then I started wondering what I would do if either seed pod actually succeeded and learned all about flasking and the meticulous care that must be taken to ensure the seeds germinate in a sterile environment with all necessary sugars and nutrients provided since I don't have the handy symbiotic fungus nearby (which also turns out to play a precarious balancing act in the wild with almost all seedlings failing)

On top of that, amateurs like me are looked down upon for randomly crossing orchids and creating inferior plants. Don't worry, orchid snobs! I see failure in my future...

You don't have to tell the orchid snobs; anyway there are a lot of varieties to choose from! I don't think one more would be noticed!

My amaryllis is blooming. One flower has opened, and there's another that is a few days away still from opening. I had to stake the stalk, as once the first flower started to open, the stalk started to lean over.

So the bulb's delayed planting apparently didn't hurt the plant very much. Woo-hoo!

And geckzilla, I'm with Orin: don't tell the orchid snobs!!

My daffodils got covered with the snow; but at least they weren't budded out yet so they will be fine!
