The photo for May 12, 2008 is not visible

For some reason the photo for May 12, 2008 isn't visible, though the text is. Is there supposed to be a photo? If so, could somebody PLEASE check this? Thanks.

I have not looked at the HTML cloesly, but the following portion of HTML from the May 11 APOD is missing from the May 12 APOD, except with obvious modifications relevant to the May 12 APOD. Note that the missing HTML has the ending ">" which confuses the HTML parser and that causes the image tag to be unrecognized.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that the image didn't seem to appear for. Hopefully TPTB will see these comments and correct the problem.

Confused - Case most likely went to the link that is positioned beneath the image - if it had been there..?

I guess my browser (Safari) is correcting the bad HTML (missing ">") on the fly.

The first line should end with a ">" character.

Firefox 2.0.0.14 Mac is also able to correct the bad HTML code and display the image.

Case indicated that the page was working for Case. Are you agreeing with Case that the page is working for you? If so, then that contradicts your other comment(s). Look closer at this discussion. I think you are missing a couple of things.

Note that in the HTML code I posted are the addresses of the images for May 11. The addresses of the images for May 12 are also in the HTML for the May 12 (today's) page. I don't know how Case got the addresses, but that is one easy and reliable way to do it.

The page loads fine for me using Safari as well as Netscape V7.2 ... I am assuming the (earlier) problem has been fixed.

Anyway, that is a great widefield image of the M81 region!

The image only appears if I use my safari browser.I have had this problem before with some nasa videos, which is why I started using safari in the first place. Thanks for the tip

Iceape 1.0.9 (Debian Linux): Works.
Konqueror (3.5.5) (Linux): Works
Seamonkey 1.1.7 (XP): Works

Confused - I think you're *ahem* confused by what I meant. I've never been known for my clarity, but I did not mean that I could see the image. Hence, why I wrote 'glad I'm not the only one with this problem' . So, no I did not contradict myself. And I don't think I've missed anything. According to other posters, it seems to have been a browser issue, which has since been resolved.
But thanks for your concerns......

The foreground dust seems to be vast in this area. It also appears to be reacting to the central galaxy or an unseen mass causing it to become polarized.
Ever star that is large enough to show a discernable Halo in the image, also shows a pair of bars radiating from their center. Not artifact though, as the apparent bars appear to form a circular pattern around the center of the image (upper left stars point 45deg to the right, upper right stars point 45deg to the left, left and right side are vertical, bottom stars are horizontal. etc...)
