View of Earth from Moon during Lunar Eclipse?

Post by bill-friedlander » Mon Feb 25, 2008 3:46 pm

Has there been a photo taken of the earth from the moon during a 'lunar' eclipse? Or, has there been a simulation of that event? I would think that the earth would be surrounded by the pink halo that causes the moon to appear 'red'. In any event it should be spectacular!

That should prove to be a beautiful image indeed... 8) The red coloring of the moon during the eclipse is from the ring of sunsets around our planet. I believe the red sunset phenomenon is called Rayleigh scattering.
