Another perplexion for You...
How to correct/adjust UTC to EST??

I believe UTC is the same as GMT meaning EST = GMT(UTC)-5hrs

Technically, GMT does not exist any more. UTC does some obscure manipulations that may add fractions of second to the difference here and there.

Any way, wiki lists whole three options for EST,

the Australian time zone at UTC+10
the Brazilian Eastern time zone at UTC-3
the North American time zone at UTC-5
