What man will do just to see stars
Man keeps on building telsecopes bigger and better on earth and out into space.

First the hubble

I have always had a suspicion Harry was really a young kid with entirely too much time on his hands

What will replace the hubble telescope
http://www.spacetelescope.org/videos/ar ... pic/jwst//
Hubble's successor, the James Webb Space Telescope
Man within the next 10 years will see more and further than ever before.
Maybe we will get answers on the Expansion and the BiG Bang.

How Deep Is The Sky
Nice photo Orca !!
I had no idea it will be so big !!
As Palomar used to be the biggest for so many years, Webb's 7 mirrors are over 2-1/2 times Palomar in size, each !
Palomar 218.166 sq ft (200" mirror)
Webb 572.55 sq ft X 7 = 4007.88 sq ft !!!!!!!
minus a few for the hole in the focal middle mirror. 4000 sq ft apx.
Holy Cow Batman ! Holy Black Holes !!
and a whole lot more , Cowabunga !!
After looking at the OWL project designs, I'm speechless !!
If only we spent 1/2 as much on Astronomy and Space as we spend on War and Military bullsh*t, this world would give me a reason to do something for society.

Its always nice to read your posts.
I never thought size mattered.
As a matter of fact it may.
Just think GG started it all up 4 hundred years ago or so.
Although he was not the first.

The James WEbb telescope is the one to keep your eye on.
