harry, I think you are referring to Dr. Shklovsky (Shklovskii). Can you be more specific than 'what'?

Galileo Galilei(Taken From Wikipedia)

Galileo Galilei (15 February 1564 – 8 January 1642)[1][2] was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher closely associated with the scientific revolution. His achievements include the first systematic studies of uniformly accelerated motion, improvements to the telescope, a variety of astronomical observations, and support for Copernicanism. Galileo's experiment-based work was a significant break from the abstract Aristotelian approach of his time.

Galileo has been called the "father of modern observational astronomy",[3] the "father of modern physics",[4] and the "father of science".[4] The motion of uniformly accelerated objects, taught in nearly all high school and introductory college physics courses, was studied by Galileo as the subject of kinematics. His contributions to observational astronomy include the discovery of the four largest satellites of Jupiter, named the Galilean moons in his honour, and observations and analysis of sunspots. Galileo also worked in applied science and technology, developing a microscope and improving compass design.

Galileo's championing of Copernicanism, particularly the heliocentric model of the universe, was controversial within his lifetime. The geocentric view had been dominant since the time of Aristotle, and the controversy engendered by Galileo's opposition to this view resulted in the condemnation of heliocentrism in 1616 by the Catholic Church as contrary to Scripture. Galileo was eventually forced to recant his heliocentrism and spent the last years of his life under house arrest on orders of the Inquisition.

Yes, we can all gooooogley answers, please do so, but we can also read them at many sites ourselves, with out posting them all here, , ,

The idea is to learn for ones self, then formulate our opinions and post them, , , ,

Hello Zeilous

Createrchains is right.

However, there are lazy people who just want to read only and the short passage on Galeleo was excellent.

Some people cannot google, their computer blocks it out. Smile, my late computer had that problem.

Can you find out more on Galeleo.

Hello Zeilous

Yep

He was basically jailed because he went against the church and the main stream system.

Hello All

This is interesting reading

Steady State Models of the Universe
and their Authors

http://www.geocities.com/area51/nebula/3735/alt.html
Albert Einstein (03.14.1879 - 04.18.1955). In 1917 Einstein had introduced the static model of the Universe, which was eternal in time and finite in space, but it had no borders. In his equations Einstein wrote the additional cosmological lambda-coefficient as the additional constant under integration. In 1922 Friedman had received the solution for non-static world. In a several years Hubble had published the first results about discovered red shifts in the spectrums of distant galaxies, and it was possible to explain these red shifts as the consequence of the expanding of the Universe. In 1931 Einstein refused the lambda coefficient and entered the camp of supporters of the expanding Universe, which has the Beginning. Thus, Albert Einstein is one of authors of the Steady State Universe, and he could be added to the camp of supporters of this model, but only with the limited period of his life.

Hello All

At this moment in time, the Big Bang Theory is the standard model and when you read the following links keep that in mind with an open mind.

His ideas have come under dispute and not excepted by some cosmologists and yet there are hundreds who agree with him.

Eric Lerner

Google for Eric Lerner cosmology

Eric has contributed so much for science and cosmology.

He is well known for writing papers against the ideas of the Big Bang
