just thought I would start a post about the subject.

This Photo says a lot to me,including the dreams of Man to reach and understand the Stars,and Universe we live in.
Grounded on Earth by the very Physical forces which exist throughout the Universe we nonetheless reach as far as we can using the power of
Light

Sorry, I can't pick one -its like trying to pick your favorite child. So many of these picts are History-in-the-Making. Never before has the public had such fast access to new discoveries.

OH! I thought Sowndbyte meant APOD but.....

Science Officer Don Pettit has some priceless articles from the ISS, my favorite if I had to pick would be his growing plants in his underwear.

No no makc, this one is much more significant from a bomb damage assessment perspective.

My favorite is spiral galaxy NGC 1350. I think it is an awesome sight.

That was always one of my favorites too!! A striking image for sure. I like it because while black and white images usually seem to have less flare for astronomy, in this one the shimmer of the stars seems to be brought out even more.

Fickle though it may seem, my favorite APOD is usually the next one I see. They all are ususaly so interesting.

Using the raw image files they can do wonders.
We get to see just a couple renditions of it.
There are several interesting features, especially along that "data drop out" line on the left. :shock:

couldn't be. we can see smaller craters there, why wouldn't optic resolve chains? also, "chains" shadow seem to be in other direction, or else those small features ain't craters.

NGC 7635 is a favorite. The Bubble Nebula is very neat. I always look forward to the next APOD. There is always new wonders being shown. Thanks Makc.
