Hello
I hope this message finds you well

The Rho Ophiuchi with unusual Ha emissions + IFN

Rho and surrounding
This is a submission
Description:
I captured the famous Rho Ophiuchi complex cloud and it’s surrounding (like the M4, vdB 104, Antares etc,,,) using LRGB OIII Ha filters I managed to get unusual deities in the hydrogen-alpha spectrum (3nm) by doing the continuum subtraction method, i did it also for OIII, the oxygen didn’t have much of a details but the Ha changed the known shape especially the Rho Ophiuchi blue cloud giving it a pinkish red, also we can observe the red houses of hydrogen in vdB 105 and near vdB 108. As I managed to take high RGB signals i can see the difference of the orange/ yellow clouds it has a very clear contrast when it comes to colors. all the IFN are shown in surrounding the area with the faint hydrogen alpha.

Hello everyone.
Another july image submission.

Title:
Omega Nebula

Full res image:
Image

Astrophotography
by Giancarlo Melis on Telescopius

Description:
The Omega Nebula, or M17, is one of the brightest and most spectacular nebulas, often featured in the old astronomy books I read as a child.
This star-forming region, located in the constellation Sagittarius about 5,000-6,000 light-years from Earth, has captured my attention since I was young.
Spanning 15 light-years and composed of ionized gas and dust, it shines thanks to the massive young stars within it.
Fascinated by the historic images in star atlases, having moved to a dark place with an unobstructed southern horizon,
I decided to capture M17 with my amateur equipment.

Date and Location:
Position: 39°28'18"N; 9°6'18"E
Date: Fri Jul 12th 2024 starting at 10:30 pm.

Barrali is a small village in the south of Sardinia, Italy.
I live in a place where light pollution is low (Bortle 4).
My shootings are made from my backyard;
I live on the outskirts and can capture the entire sky without obstructions.

Technical data:
This picture was obtained by the well-known technique of image stacking.
To emphasize the haziness of the emission in the HII wavelength, I used a bi-narrow-band filter (HII+OIII).
Because the camera I use has a reduced dynamic range, I performed a session of short shots to capture the stars that, at long exposures, are generally oversaturated.
The nebulosity was instead captured with exposures of 2 minutes each.

Imaging scope: Celestron RASA 8 (400mm @f/2)
Imaging camera: ZWO ASI 183 MC-Pro
Guiding scope: ZWO Mini guide (168mm)
Guiding camera: ZWO ASI 120 M-Mini
Filter: IDAS Nebula Booster NBZ (Ha+OIII)
Lights: 30x10sec (stars) + 164x120sec (nebula)
Darks: x20

Thank you for watching.
Giancarlo.

Vela and Red Master of Puppis

A wide area of glowing hydrogen, the remnant of a supernova in the Vela constellation, stretching across (in the shown part, as there's an upper part too) the constellations Vela and Puppis. A very vast area, the image is theoretically 2x3 panels from a Samyang 135mm with a Nikon D610mod (in practice 8 panels), the background calibrated thanks to another session done with a Sigma Art40.
The time window was very short, because in early June, in South Africa, the object practically sets right at the beginning of the night, hence the panels were taken for a maximum of 30 minutes each.

ImageLDN 1235 and LDN 1251 - Predators in a cosmic ocean. by Ali Alobaidly, on Flickr

Image description:
LDN 1235, also known as the Dark Shark Nebula, is a prominent dark nebula located in the constellation Cepheus. This intriguing celestial feature is part of a larger complex of dark clouds, extending over a region rich with interstellar dust and gas. The nebula is characterized by its elongated shape, resembling a shark swimming through the cosmos, and is composed mainly of dense molecular hydrogen and interstellar dust. These materials effectively obscure the background stars and emit a faint, blue reflection from nearby starlight. Chased by the great shark is LDN 1251, another significant dark nebula in the Cepheus region, it shares similar properties with LDN 1235. Commonly referred to as the anglerfish nebula, it is a fitting companion to the great shark. I captured this image using my 135mm lens, very little aperture but fast optics, hoping to capture both nebulae and the surrounding structures in an explosive frame full of dust!

LBN 999 - Angel or warrior? by Ali Alobaidly, on Flickr

Astrobin: https://astrob.in/hq8osw/0/

Image description:

As elusive as the mythical creature of its native constellation, LBN 999 seems to elude many of the astrophotographers who frequent the winter skies. This reflection nebula, often referred to as the Angel Nebula, is rarely shown any love! Perhaps its proximity to infamous giants such as Orion, the Rosette, and the Seagull kept it in the shadows. To me, it resembles an armored knight, red-faced from the weight of the huge blue war hammer he rests upon his shoulders and the bleeding black sword on his hip. Along with those large blue shoulder plates, the weight seems crushing. To reveal him, I pointed my 9.25-inch SCT telescope at the heel of Monoceros and kept it there for a little more than 17 hours, split into three bone-chilling nights I spent camped at Al-Salmi Desert southwest of Kuwait. This is one of my most beloved images. The reflection of starlight, the dense and complex regions, and the dark structures all coalesce into a scene that is truly hard to believe exists in nature.

Living in a very small, light-polluted country, we rarely observe or capture broadband targets due to the challenge they present in the post-processing process. Modern-day techniques and scripts are slowly changing that, however, and so I am eternally grateful to those hard at work manufacturing the tools we use on a daily basis: Steffen Hirtle's Graxpert, Russell Croman's tools for noise reduction and deconvolution, Franklin Marek's various PixInsight scripts, and, of course, the multitude of developers and programmers who contributed to creating both the acquisition and the processing software we couldn't live without!

Orion through the Hole in the Wall

ImageOrion through the Hole in the Wall by Ahmed Waddah, on Flickr

This was taken back in April during my trip to the New Valley Dessert. The structure is known as the hole in the wall structure or "Makhroum El Sahraway" in the depth of the New Valley Desert 500 km away from Cairo due south. Foreground was imaged around blue hour, and the sky was image soon after I finished imaging the comet (12/P/Pons-Brooks).

Here is the first light from my dual RedCat 51 system. This is a setup that I designed and am optimizing specifically for wide-field and broadband mosaics. However, I was very eager to test it, so I made my first experiments on a subject more suited to narrowband filters.
I collected a total of 120 frames of 180" with an OSC camera and an IR-cut filter, 120 frames of OIII at 300", and 80 frames of 300" in both Ha and SII, for a total of 29 hours and 20 minutes.
In this image, I experimented with new techniques for dynamic narrowband mixing, and I am partially satisfied with the result. I hope you like the outcome.
The Cygnus region is one of the richest and most fascinating areas of the night sky, located in the Milky Way. The field of my shot hosts several cosmic wonders, including:
WR 134: A Wolf-Rayet star known for its strong stellar winds and the ring nebula that surrounds it, formed from material expelled by the star.
Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888): An emission nebula located about 5000 light-years from Earth. It is formed by the stellar winds of the Wolf-Rayet star WR 136 interacting with the material expelled by the star during its red giant phase.
Tulip Nebula (Sh2-101): An emission nebula located about 8000 light-years from Earth. Its name derives from its characteristic shape that resembles a blooming tulip.
LDN (Lynds' Dark Nebulae): This region contains numerous dark nebulae cataloged by Beverly Lynds. These nebulae are dense clouds of dust and gas that block the light from background stars, creating dark silhouettes against the bright backdrop of the Milky Way.

Through this photograph, I aim to convey the raw, untamed essence of the Eagle Nebula. It’s a reminder that the universe is not just a place of serene beauty, but also one of intense activity and constant change. This image invites viewers to confront the reality of space, to see beyond the surface and appreciate the complex and often harsh processes that drive the cosmos.

Eta Carina, Lambda Centauri and Southern Pleiades

Eta Carina's brightness, that pink color visible to the naked eye in the band of the Milky Way in the southern sky, is hypnotizing and captivating. It couldn't have been any other way - it was one of the first shots taken during the first expedition under the southern sky. Adding two companions - Lambda Centauri, also known as the Running Chicken Nebula, and the Southern Pleiades - simply a classic.
