Aurora above Hungary
Copyright: György Soponyai
Standing on 47° Northern latitude, Auroras are very rarely visible. If so, the result is a faint, almost invisible glow at the bottom of the Northern horizon.
But on the evening of 2023-11-05, a once-in-a-lifetime unforeseen miracle was shining for more than one hour above Hungarian skies: the brightest and most beautiful Aurora for decades.
I was alarmed by my friends very lately so I was able to capture the very end of the event near my home, Mogyoród.
This photo is a concatenated result of two 14mm wide angle frames, so you may imagine the huge size of the phenomenon.
Details:

Milky Way over a lake in southern Chile.

Nikon d5600, Tokina lens 14/20mm f2
14mm f2 iso 2000 20 segs
Panorama
Lake Chapo is a turquoise pre-mountain lake of glacial origin, located at 240 meters above sea level, 40 km northeast of Puerto Montt and 110 km southeast of Puerto Varas. It is located between the Alerce Andino National Park and the Llanquihue Natural Reserve, so it offers a very beautiful view of both the mountains that surround it and the lush vegetation of the place. It is the only lake in the Puerto Montt commune. Since 1990, it has had to endure the devastating effects of a basin transfer, producing an ecological imbalance without return associated with the operation of the Canutillar hydroelectric plant.
In the photograph we observe the reflection of the Milky Way in the lake, along with the Carina Nebula, the Southern Cross and the Galactic Center, as well as the airglow that dyes the scene red.

Without a doubt one of my favorite natural elements are volcanoes. During this time I have been able to marvel at their majesty and the presence that they impose on the environment.
Observing the Milky Way from above in one of them is an unforgettable experience.
We can see the winter Milky Way in the southern hemisphere, along with the Carina Nebula, the Southern Cross and the Villarica Volcano.

"Remember remember the 5th of November"
On Bonfire Night, Mother Nature provided her own fireworks in the form of another spectacular display of the northern lights that were reportedly seen as far south as Greece and Turkey!
To the naked eye, a faint glow could be seen for several hours. Here's what my camera saw at Dryslwyn Castle in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

We can see the Osorno volcano aligned with the Milky Way next to the galactic center, on the edges we can see the airglow, warning of a storm in the area.
