Fraser Cain interviews Judy Schmidt (Geckzilla) on Youtube

Post by Ann » Thu Oct 27, 2022 6:28 pm

Our own Geck(zilla), Judy Schmidt, is one of the most skilled people in the world at processing Hubble and James Webb data and turning it into beautiful images. Judy talks to Fraser Cain here:

One of the images processed by Judy that is being discussed in the video is this one of galaxy IC 5063:

Judy talks about many other things in the video, too. Go watch it.

Great video! Well, Judy is such a talent,. I first became aware of her about 8 years ago when she was working on a project I was involved with, and even then her work blew me away. Great interview Fraser. Was so good to be able to hear her share her insights and process with everyone.

Really like her work, including among many others her processing of NGC 2336. I'm surprised there is no APOD of this beautiful galaxy (or did I miss it?)

Judy Schmidt is one of my favourite Judy's in all of history. I was looking at her processing of Hickson 40 earlier today.
