This is my photo of Andromeda taken from an hour west of St. Louis on 08/23/2020. This was taken with a Skywatcher Evostar 72ed and a Nikon D5300 over the course of about an hour. I'm relatively new to astrophotography and this is my best image ever. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!

I very much enjoy your photo because it looks so "real". Most other Andromeda pictures that are posted in places like Starship Asterisk* are so detailed, processed and color-enhanced that they tell us very little about what Andromeda looks like through a telescope. You have given us an honest portrait of Andromeda, and believe me, those are rare! So thanks!

The moon is usually seen in subtle shades of gray or yellow.
The different colors are recognized to correspond to actual differences in the chemical composition of the lunar surface. Blue hues reveal areas rich in ilmenite, which contains iron, titanium and oxygen, mainly titanium, while orange and purple show relatively poor titanium and iron regions.
White areas are taller areas that are most exposed to the sun.
Trips to the moon have already been indicated by similar images.
Made with saturation technique, moon in color.

Thank you very much Ann! That's using Astrodon's LRGB E-Series NIR Blocked Gen 2 filters. Then color calibration in Pixinsight using Photometric Color Calibration.

Skies were pretty dark (21.5 SQM). That's 2 hours of 300-second subs in each R, G and B channel for 6 hours of total color in a 24".

Wow, I love that image, Barretosmed! See that "plume" of light brown "smoke" rising from a small but thick column of black smoke, emanating from two tiny blue embers? This is the region of star formation in Corona Australis! I have to post another widefield but slightly closer picture of this amazing smoking embers of star formation - and no, I don't know the author of the wonderful image at right!
