This image is composed of photos of Venus taken over a period of 6 months starting from December 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020 from my backyard in Ontario, Canada. I've put the different phases in a representation that showcases how the position of Venus in its orbit affects the phase and the apparent size from our perspective.

I used my Skywatcher 8 inch Dobsonian with manual tracking and an asi 224mc to capture each of these photos.

The summer months are the best time for seeing the high-altitude, electric-blue clouds known as Noctilucent Clouds (NLC). NLC form on the edge of space when water vapour condenses and freezes onto small meteoric dust particles. These eerie and extremely tenuous clouds can only be seen under the right lighting conditions: i.e. when the Sun is between 6 and 16 degrees below the horizon and the temperature in the Mesosphere is low enough. Therefore, in the northern hemisphere, the best time to view this phenomenon is from the last week in May to the first week in August (between the hours of 11 p.m. and 3 a.m.).

I captured this beautiful early-season display, at 00:25 UT on 2020 June 1, from a field near my house in Elgin, Moray, Scotland. Near the horizon these 'space clouds' are golden-yellow in colour, and at the uppermost part of the display the clouds are electric blue.

This is a 22 image mosaic of the nebulosity in Cygnus taken with a Takahashi FSQ106 4 inch refractor and SBIG STXL-11002 CCD camera. 74 hours of data was collected through H-alph, Red, Green and Blue filters. You can find a higher resolution image here:

NGC 55


Following the guidelines and positive criticisms of my friend Leandro Fornaziero, I am redoing some of my captures and trying new details in the processing.

The previous image I will leave in the comments,

NGC 55. This galaxy is an irregular barred spiral and is believed to be very similar to the Great Magellanic Cloud, but turned on its side, while the GNM faces us.

It is part of the sculptor's group of galaxies.

I know that most of the time we see astrophotography here, but because letter "P" in abbreviation "APOD" stands for "picture", not "photography", I would like to submit a bit different photo, or rather a photo of one of my cosmic painting. This image depicts NGC 6334, also known as the Cat's Paw Nebula or the Bear Claw Nebula.

I made this art based on the object photos in the Internet. My technique - watercolours on canvas, dimentions - 30x30 cm.
I assume in case of artwork, place of creation is not so crucial, but for the record I made the painting in Inwałd - small village in southern Poland.

That's a lovely image and a great portrait of Centaurus A and its jet! It's so fascinating that we can see a jet only on one side of the galaxy, just like we do in giant elliptical galaxy M87.

That's a great image! I love the colors of M51 and the huge halo of old stars surrounding both galaxies. I love how the halo of stars reflects the tidal forces of this interacting pair and the spiral shape of M51. The two elongated "tails" near NGC 5195 almost look like two fuzzy yellow spiral arms.
