This is an amazing and ethereal image! I wonder if it would be possible to do a widefield image of Sh2-308 and NGC 2359 together?Josh Smith wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:57 pm SH2-308 by Onejoshsmith, on Flickr

The Grus Quartet (Galaxy) (NGC 7552, 7582, 7590, 7599)
Located in the Grus Constellation, are all 4 spiral galaxies.
Further up we have NGC 7552, the smallest of the three below is ngc 7590, with its mate next to ngc 7599. The most central and most studied of them is NGC 7582.
NGC 7582 is a type 2 Seyfert galaxy, such a classification is due to the fact that the galaxy has an extremely bright supermassive central black hole very similar to a quasar (most energetic objects in the universe). The black hole of NGC7582 is about 10 million times the mass of our sun.

Re: Submissions: 2020 April
Thanks! Glad you like it! Funny, you mention that! It is exactly the mosaic I am working on. I only got about halfway through it this year, but next year I should be able to publish a mosaic that stretches that span and includes some very interesting additional targets as well!starsurfer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 8:15 pmThis is an amazing and ethereal image! Supermoon rising 7/4/2020
About photo:
This is a blend / composition of exposures taken within 45 minutes. The photo shows a moon rising over the lake and city of Hlučín, Czech Republic.
About processing:
it was a bit more difficult to process this data. I took 2 photos for each sequence, 1 for the moon and 1 for the foreground. All photos were taken within 3 minutes of each other. Then I edited the photos in a similar style and blended them in Photoshop. This photo is enchanted by the last rays of the sun, since it was taken between golden hour and civil twilight.
Location coordinates: 49.896087, 18.148227
Gear: Canon EOS 6D Mark II and Rokinon 135 mm f/2.0

Moonrise Silhouette by John Williams, on Flickr
Moonrise Silhouette
From our vantage point, we see alignments in this little notch of Crescent Mountain, Colorado. This Passover moonrise came about as close as it gets for us. I had considered moving to the south about 200 yards once I saw the glow of the Moon but it was more important to catch the rise instead of moving and miss the whole thing. This is the 98.5% Waning Moon. Beautiful moonrise either way.
Nikon D750, f5.6, 300mm, 1.3s ISO 800. Shot from Coal Creek Canyon Colorado.

NGC 2866 The Dust Disk Galaxy
NGC 5866 (also called the Spindle Galaxy or Messier 102) is a relatively bright lenticular or spiral galaxy in the constellation Draco.
One of the most outstanding features of NGC 5866 is the extended dust disk, which is seen almost exactly edge-on. This dust disk is highly unusual for a lenticular galaxy. The dust in most lenticular galaxies is generally found only near the nucleus and generally follows the light profile of the galaxies' bulges.
Data from: NASA-MAST-HLA
Processing: Lluís Romero Ventura
