The Fly
The object commonly known as “The Fly” is the combination of a red emission nebula, blue reflection nebula, and an open star cluster. The star cluster is listed in the New General Catalog (NGC) as NGC 1931, while the nebulosity is included in the Sharpless catalog as Sh2-237. NGC 1931 is located in an extension of the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way about 7000 light-years away. The stars are relatively young at an age of about 10 million years. A study by A.K. Pandey and H.S. Mahra suggests the nebulosity may be a background object to the star cluster (http://articles.adsabs.harvard.edu//ful ... 3.000.html).

New Year Meteorite over Italy<br/>

Explanation: On the day of January 1 a -10 magnitude fireball crossed the skies of Northern Italy at 18h 26min UT. UfoCapture system at L19 AAB Felsina Observatory(1) in Monte San Pietro location, managed Amateur Astronomer Association of Bologna city(2), recorded the entire, breathtaking fireball phenomenon.<br/>
Upon a careful analysis of the trajectory thanks to 8 further recordings by cameras belonging to the PRISMA fireball video network(3), the astronomers of INAF-Italian National Institute of Astrophysics(4) made known to the public the potential meteorite fall on Earth, in particular in an area near the Province of Modena. Analysis of recordings show the 6-second long fireball reached a magnitude of -8 that bumped up to -10 during a last fragmentation, near 32 km altitude. Final visual altitude was estimated to be 20 km.<br/>
These fragments of fresh meteorites (two pieces of total 55g) have been eventually recovered in the outskirts of the town of Cavezzo(5) on January 4.<br/>

Hi folks

Here I share with you our version of the popular Tarantula Nebula,

Also known as 30 Doradus and NGC 2070, is a large region of ionized gas surrounding a collection of newly-forming stars at the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is being said that if it were as close to Earth as the Orion Nebula it would take up the same area in the sky as 60 full moons and would be bright enough to cast shadows on the ground. In fact, it is the most active and complex star formation region known within the Local Group galaxies.

It was taken from a remote observatory in Chile (about 2h narrowband exposure, 30min Ha, 30min O3, 60 min S2) during the 7th and 8th February 2020. Channels stacked with DSS, combined with MaximDL, and finally processed with Adobe Photoshop.

M44 - The Beehive Cluster

Imaged on 2/3/4 Feb 2020 from EEYE in Extremadura, Spain. A beautiful open cluster and one of the closest to Earth, it has an apparent size approximately 3 times that of the full moon and is just visible as a faint haze to the naked eye.
