Eclipse shot for Flag Day (6/14)

my main concern setting up for the eclipse the night before was that this pole not block my telescopic view.
When I went to take my widefield shot, well there it was, serendipity.

I don't usually get a big kick out of eclipse shots, but this one is spectacular.

NGC4945 -LHaRGB - Adding H-alpha in LRGB
NGC4945 -LHaRGB - Adding H-alpha in LRGB

I later placed an image of NGC4945, here frames were added in
Halpha (25x600 ") made in São Paulo - SP.

---- I suggest friends open and enjoy the details of the central region of the galaxy in high resolution: https://www.astrobin.com/full/408250/0/ -----

---- Link of the previous image: https://www.astrobin.com/full/408148/0/?nc=user ----

The large spiral galaxy NGC 4945 is border view close to the center of this picture of the cosmic galaxy. In fact, the NGC 4945 is almost the size of our Milky Way galaxy.
At about 13 million light-years away from the extensive southern constellation of Centaurus, NGC 4945 is only six times as far away as Andromeda, the great spiral galaxy closest to the Milky Way (not taking into account Magellan's clouds, which to me are just satellite galaxies of ours).
Subsequent observations revealed that NGC 4945 has an active nucleus, which means that its central bulge emits much more energy than calmer galaxies, such as the Milky Way. Scientists classify NGC 4945 as a Seyfert galaxy, since then, astronomers have suspected that a supermassive black hole causes intense agitation in the center.

Deep Wide Field Centaurus A

Post by strongmanmike » Tue Jun 04, 2019 11:36 am

This deep 52.5hr exposure, collected over 10 nights, is centred on the region around the enigmatic galaxy Centaurus A.
Perhaps all seen for the first time, in the one image and in full colour, this 4deg X 4deg vista showcases several rarely
viewed characteristics of this famous galaxy and the surrounding field, they include:

1) The full extent of and the bipolar nature, of the huge galactic halo around Centaurus A, which extends over 1.25deg of sky

2) The extent of H-alpha emission in the dark dust lane that runs across the centre of the galaxy.

3) The (red) relativistic jet, emanating from the super massive black hole at the core of Centaurus A, that is spewing
material 1000's of light years into the outer reaches of the huge galaxy halo.

4) The spread of extremely faint galactic Cirrus dust, hovering above the plain of The Milky Way, both reflecting the (mostly blue) light of the millions of stars in our galaxy as a whole, as well as emitting very faint (red) Halpha light of its own, making the dust a weak blue-red colour.

THOR'S HELMET IN CANIS MAJOR

The emission nebula NGC 2359, often called Thor's Helmet, is found in the constellation Canis Major. The emission is powered by a Wolf-Rayet star. The nebula is approximately 12,000 light-years away. Image was taken with a SBIG STF8300m CCD camera (SBIG filters) and a 12.5” f/9 RCOS (operating at f/6 with an Astro-Physics CCDT-067 telecompressor) on a Paramount ME in Mayhill, NM on the nights of 30 Jan 7, 8, 12 Feb 2019. Image was a total of 11 hours exposure (21 x 1200 sec Lum; 4 x 1200 sec Red; 4 x 1200 sec Green; 4 x 1200 sec Blue all @ -15 degrees C; 24 darks; 128 bias; 128 flats). Image processed with PixInsight 1.8.6.1457 Ripley (x64).
