NGC 4725. KG Observatory, Julian, CA.
Still waiting for lengthy clear skies. Luckily we had a 4-hour clearing last night between 9 PM and 1 AM with FWHM under 2" on 5-minutes subs. NGC4725 was nicely positioned during that time so I went for it. With only 85 minutes of luminance, the faint tidal streams cannot be resolved. I was happy to get most of the spiral structure. Hope to add more L and RGB data as the weather clears.
"While most spiral galaxies, including our own Milky Way, have two or more spiral arms, NGC 4725 has only one. NGC 4725 is over 100 thousand light-years across and lies 41 million light-years away in constellation Coma Berenices."

Palomar 5, discovered in 1950, is a rather faint globular cluster in the constellation Serpens.
It has meanwhile been misclassified as a dwarf galaxy (serpens dwarf), but it is clearly a globular cluster. However, many stars are leaving this cluster in form of a stellar stream. The stellar stream is about 30 000 light-years long , the globular cluster might be slowly in dissolution.
10" + 5" Newtonain telescopes, 07 h 40 min exposure time, image was taken in Upper Austria.
L 19x10 min, RGB 9x10 min each. Link to exposure data and 100% resolution

Re: Submission: 2019 May
I love the colors of this image! Note that of the three large galaxies in the picture, NGC 467 is a soft shade of orange. NGC 470 in the middle has a yellow center and a pale blue-white ring, and NGC 474 at right is a pale yellow color which bleeds into off-white in the outer shells.KuriousGeorge wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 2:58 pm NGC 467, 470 & 474. These colors are perfect! Indeed, NGC 467 is the reddest of the lot. Its U-B and B-V colors are 0.55 and 1.05, respectively. NGC 474, the "intermediate color" one, has U-B and B-V indexes of 0.38 and 0.86. And NGC 470, the spiral ring galaxy, has U-B and B-V colors of 0.10 and 0.75. The higher the number, the redder the galaxy, and the lower he number, the bluer the galaxy. You got it perfectly right!
The red colors of NGC 467 suggests that this galaxy hasn't formed stars for a long time. The fantastic shell galaxy NGC 474 formed stars more recently, particularly in its outer shells. In the outermost shell structures, some star formation may still be going on. And NGC 470 is clearly forming stars in its broad blue ring. Your perfect colors tell us important facts about these three galaxies!

The Cone Nebula is in the constellation of Monoceros. It was discovered by William Herschel on December 26, 1785. The nebula is located about 830 parsecs or 2,700 light-years away from Earth. The Cone Nebula forms part of the nebulosity surrounding the Christmas Tree Cluster. The designation of NGC 2264 in the New General Catalogue refers to both objects and not the nebula alone.
