IAU Demotes Sun to second-brightest object in System
I downloaded the latest eye-candy posted as the August 28 APOD, but spent a few too many seconds admiring it before I started to wonder:
Why are the sides of the planets facing away from the Sun brighter than those facing toward it?
Inquiring minds want to know!

A great point! I hadn't given the lighting orientation a second thought. A great discovery though.
