Thanks for the comments. Back in early August 2013 we found a nest in our side yard with three little blue eggs. They soon thatched.

We got to follow their early days.

Until one day they ventured out on their own.

Well, isn't spider web tougher than a piece of steel of the same size after all? Or was it a hoax/pseudoscience that was debunked?

Anyways, someone without 8 legs finally found a purpose for cobwebs, and that's good to know ; maybe some day I'll find what to do with the indecently large amounts of them I clean from my wife's family's cottage every year...

Driving on the back roads you find some colorful places.

Between Ola and Sweet we ran across a number of wild turkeys.

Among them a few without color.

This is my little 15 year old kitty cat. We got her 3 months ago. Tonight I am heartbroken as she slowly dies due to a malignant affliction she had when we got her, though we didn't know it at the time. I miss her already.

So sorry, Geck. We have so many animals, we've lost so many over the years. It never gets easier.

I'm tearing up when I see her, and when I remember how I lost my own cat.

When I think the situation can't get any sadder, it does. Sometime yesterday or last night she decided the water in her bowl wasn't right, even after we changed it a couple of times. She only wants the dirty water where the end of our driveway meets the street. It dried up today, and so I poured some more in it. She'll use what little energy she has left to go downstairs and meow / stare at the front door until I oblige, which I will, even if it's in the middle of the night...

It might be pica, or it might be that she has pain when she drinks, and learns to associate that pain with the container. I just changed her metal bowl to a cup that looks drastically different.

She's curled up in a little ball in a heated bed I got her a few days ago right now. Earlier today she purred on my lap until she fell asleep. I just hope I'm suffering more than she is.

What gets you so terribly when it comes to sick and dying pets is the stark realization of how innocent they are, how helpless they are, how utterly dependent on you they are, and how helpless you are to help them.

It's completely heartbreaking.

All of us pet owners will eventually go through what you’re feeling. I wish there was an easy way to help you cope with that part. Knowing it will be better at some point helps but the love and care you’re showing your little girl are of the best of humans’ traits.

If Bojo could feel grief, he'd offer her one of his most favorite treats.

While she is still able to purr, you are helping to ease her suffering and enjoy life at least a little.

Your situation reminds me of a cat we had for many years. The point came when he could barely raise his head, so we felt that we had to have him humanly put to sleep by a vet. That was very hard.

I'm not trying to tell you what you should do, just trying to show some empathy.

We've got a giant elk herd wandering up the valley in front of our house. Hundreds of them. In the winter they come down out of the higher elevations and we see them a lot. Always fun when we can watch them from the deck.

It's disconcerting when you discover previous typos. The nest might have been " thatched" but the eggs

hatched.

I'm glad I got plant protectors for my garden! They like to hide in my wife's Hostas;
I don't know if they eat that or not! I got this picture from bunny pictures in the search engine!

They are cute, Orin! But indeed, I guess you need to protect your garden from them.

We have just huge numbers of rabbits in Malmö. I see rabbits outside my condominium every day.

This is what we've been watching in one of our pastures since the beginning of May. Never had five kits before, and this year there's no father. Normally the mother and father take turns at the den while the other hunts. Something must have gotten the father.

Magic doesn't even pay any attention to them or the squirrels! She'ed sooner bark when the neighbors dogs are out and they have a couple of barks at each other! I guess she's just sociable.

I can't believe how close we get with our animal friends! When Sassy passed, I just had to get another dog! Magic's personality is way different than Sassy's; but she's adorable in her own way!

Visiting a friend's new property today I was surprised by a pair of Sandhill Cranes.

Their comeback story is pretty amazing!

They've managed to spread far and wide across the US.

Breeding in Idaho pleasing us birders.

They were very interested to see us.

Another couple of friends were fascinated too.
