Total Lunar Eclipse & occultation of the binary star o Cap A / B

Recorded with a Sony alpha 7s and a NexStar 4SE between Grünau and Keetmanshoop, Namibia.
GPS of this location:
S 27°16'43.45"
E 18°58'48.88"
ALT. 1395 m

The interval of the time lapse was 4 sec.
But we recorded the occultation on a line of 150 Meters from 4 video telescope stations.

Blue - Turquoise tint on the Moon



During the eclipse of the moon, a blue - turquoise tint is clearly visible. This is caused because most of the light illuminating the moon passes through the stratosphere where it is reddened by scattering. However, light passing through the upper stratosphere penetrates the ozone layer, which absorbs red light and actually makes the passing light ray bluer.

With the dust coming down many details start to get noticeable!
Vallis Marineris very visible near 8 am, Chryse, Acidalia and Argyre Planitia stand out easily as well as Margaritifer and Meridiani Planum, but what I liked was to be able to capture with good resolution the various dark craters like Trouvelot, Rutherford, Becquerel and Radau perfectly recognizable to the left side of Arabia Land almost a little above the center of the photo.
Certainly one of my best Mars photos this year!

An Open Star Cluster - Messier 23 by Delberson Tiago de Souza, no Flickr

This is such a fine picture of a rarely photographed object!

We can tell at a glance that M23 is not a globular cluster, partly because its shape is too irregular, but mostly because it is dominated by blue stars. The richness of blue stars in the cluster shows not only that M23 is an open cluster, but also that it is quite young.

We can also tell at a glance that even though M23 is a young open cluster, it is definitely older than the Pleiades. The reason why we can see that is that none of the blue stars stand out clearly from the rest, i.e., there are no really brilliant hot stars left in the cluster. (The bright star at upper right is a modest A-type foreground star.) The most massive stars in M23 have died, and there are no O-type or early B-type stars left. There are also no brilliant red supergiants in the cluster.

The partial solar eclipse from Oslo. The sequence starts 5 minutes before max eclipse (clouds before that); time distance between shots is 5 min. Even though the eclipse was not very prominent, I still had a dumb smile on my face. Astronomy FTW!

Unfortunately, no plane, bird, butterfly or alien spaceship passed in front of the eclipsed Sun.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Pentax 75 SDHF refractor with a Thousand Oaks solar filter.

And I’ve just realized that 19 years ago today I saw my first total solar eclipse.

In August 11, we took a photo of partial solar eclipse with sunset at the top of Mt. Tai. In China，Mt. Tai which is located in Shandong Province attracts thousands of tourists every year. And this place named Day Street which located in the Dai Ding, west Nantianmen, East only Bixia Temple length 0.6 km. People coming and going, they may not notice that the sun is different than usual.
