Thank you for that picture, Cristina! NGC 4490 and NGC 4485 are two of my favorite galaxies, because they are so blue. I very much appreciate that your picture underscores how blue they really are (although you also show us that the center of NGC 4490 is in fact yellow, as expected).

Lit by the bright star NU Scorpii, this large but faint reflection nebula in Scorpius is imaged much less often than its famous cosmic equine cousin in Orion. This field of view is 4 deg X 4 deg.

Great American Eclipse
for 4th of July
Not a big flag waver, my main concern setting up for the eclipse the night before was that this pole not block my telescopic view.
When I went to take my widefield shot, well there it was, serendipity.

NGC 5426 and NGC 5427 (ARP 271) is a rarely photographed interacting galaxy pair in the constellation Virgo. Approximately 90 million light years from Earth, this galaxy pair spans 130,000 light years across.

Because these two galaxies are similar in size, it is unlikely that one will be devoured by the other. More likely these galaxies will continue to interact for tens of millions of years, creating new stars along the way.

This is just under 10 hours of LRGB data taken with our Officina Stellare RiLA600mm f/5 telescope and an FLI MLx694 camera, from Samphran, Thailand (one hour west of Bangkok).

Anyone see the Moon and Venus conjunction tonight? I grabbed a quick shot across from my apartment. Look towards the west shortly after sunset Saturday. Saturday night the moon will be a little higher in the sky compared to Friday.

Tadpole Galaxy, KG Observatory.

This was a particularly challenging object given its small size and relatively low brightness. With the marine layer holding down the San Diego city lights, I was able to shoot most of this in 21.5 to 21.8 SQM skies. Seeing was under 2" FWHM measured on 5 min subs. I recently improved collimation and tracking, so I may try a new luminance layer in the near future.

We rarely have the luxury of observing the planet Mars as a "morning star", but at dawn yesterday at Laguna Hanson in Baja California Mexico there was present delighting the panorama after a spectacularly clear night and taken advantage of by at least 30 Astrophotographers of the Night Panorama technique.

I also include this other image of the Hanson Lagoon, discovered at the beginning of the last century by the Norwegian Jacob Hanson, where he also settled, until he was killed to try to steal it, although no one ever found the hanson fortune to date.
