What are these spots on recent CONCAM CI images?

Post by RJN » Sat Sep 04, 2004 4:12 pm

There are some very small spots that have been appearing recently all over CONCAM images from the Canary Islands (CI). The latest image (as of this post) shows these, especially near the edge of the sky-illuminated circle:

The movie files show that these spots do not move. Other (all?) recent CI files also show the small spots.

My best guess is that these spots are evaporated dew residue on the CI dome. If so, the dome should be cleaned. Any other ideas? Either way, I don't know how they are affecting the photometry.
