It's now 7.11 a.m. local time in Sweden, and I'm waiting for the Astronomy Picture of the Day. Usually it appears around 6.10 a.m. or so, but not today.

Presumably they are for the same announcement, though the EU one makes it sound so much more ominous. The US one is like oh, it's LIGO again.

The APOD FaceBook page, at least, has such an announcement...
RobThe APOD for 2017 Oct 16 will be delayed pending an announcement from the NSF and the LIGO and Virgo collaborations at 10 am EDT.
