Daylight saving time?
Daylight saving time?
It's now 7.11 a.m. local time in Sweden, and I'm waiting for the Astronomy Picture of the Day. Usually it appears around 6.10 a.m. or so, but not today.
Could it be that you have daylight saving time in the United States already?

Re: Daylight saving time?
It will come later today after some big press conference.
US version:
https://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp? ... &from=news
EU version:
https://www.eso.org/public/announcements/ann17071/
Presumably they are for the same announcement, though the EU one makes it sound so much more ominous. The US one is like oh, it's LIGO again.

Just call me "geck" because "zilla" is like a last name.

And, yes, the EU one really sounds pretty ominous!

Re: Daylight saving time?
Instead of yesterday's image, why didn't they have a some kind of announcement saying that?
I thought the site was hacked or something.

The APOD FaceBook page, at least, has such an announcement...
RobThe APOD for 2017 Oct 16 will be delayed pending an announcement from the NSF and the LIGO and Virgo collaborations at 10 am EDT.

Thanks Rob. Not on Facebook, but I (finally) did notice the announcement the bottom of yesterday's image.rstevenson wrote:The APOD FaceBook page, at least, has such an announcement...RobThe APOD for 2017 Oct 16 will be delayed pending an announcement from the NSF and the LIGO and Virgo collaborations at 10 am EDT.
