Compilation of 13 years of Jupiter oppositions images ( 2004-2017 )
Compilation of 13 years of Jupiter oppositions images ( 2004-2017 ). Note: 2013 is not missing it was oppositionless last time was in 2001. I wanted to go back further to 1985 but the quality are way below to the modern era of digital Ccd's videos compare to SLR cameras at the time ( Center image =1986, 1996) and a single image if your lucky. Many equipments were used at the time to the present. ( Equipments: LX200ACF 12 in., 10in, C8 OTA's, CGE mount, ASI290, Flea3, DMK21, TouCam 740,840, SAC7 Ccd's, Canon AE1, Nikon F SLR's, TeleVue 3x barlows, PowerMate 2.5x, Celestron 2x barlows.)

Re: Submissions: 2017 April
Please find hereunder a low resolution spectrum of Y Canum Venaticorum, a giant red carbon star.
This spectrum was acquired on March 25, 2017 from a simple digital SLR camera (Canon 600D), a Newtonian telescope (200mm/1000mm) and a Star Analyser 100.
Wavelengths covered by the spectrum extend from 400 nm to 700 nm (my camera is not sensitive to near infrared).
Best regards,
Julien Q. (FRANCE)

The Gabriela Mistra Nebula and surrounds.
Date -7th and 14th April
Location --Jerrara Dam NSW
Photographer-- Joe Perulero
Telescope-- 120mm Williams optics ED refractor at F6
Camera-- SBIG STF8300m with filter wheel and LRGB Ha OIII SII filters Mount -Sky watcher NEQ6 Exposure--5hrs of 5mins exposures at -10deg C
The Gabriela Mistral Nebula (also known as NGC 3324 and IC 2599) is an emission nebula, an HII region excited by an open star cluster (OCL 819) in its centre. It is located about 7,200 light-years away at the northwest corner of the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) in the southern constellation of Carina. In fact, IC 2599 is the southern part of NGC 3324.
A rich deposit of gas and dust in the NGC 3324 region fuelled a burst of starbirth millions of years ago and led to the creation of several extremely massive and very hot stars. The intense ultraviolet radiation from these hot young stars causes the gas cloud to glow and has carved out a cavity in the surrounding gas and dust. In fact the stars are slowly eroding the gas cloud away.
The dark patches in the image are regions where veils of dust block out the light from the background glowing gas.
Astronomers often attach nicknames to nebulae based on their shape and their earthly likenesses. The edge of the wall of gas and dust at the right bears a strong resemblance to a human face in profile, with the “bump” in the center corresponding to a nose. So, NGC 3324 is often called the Gabriela Mistral nebula, after the Nobel Prize-winning poet from Chile.
( Description Credit http://annesastronomynews.com/photo-gal ... /ngc-3324/).
This image was taken by Astrophotographer Joe Perulero from the Wollongong Astronomy Club and is taken in Narrowband wavelengths (Hydrogen Alpha, Oxygen III and Sulphur II).

This image shows a composite of two images taken at different moments in the lunar cycle (first quarter and full moon) to show the complete moon during first quarter as it can be seen when earthshine is observed. This results in almost 3D like image of the moon showing a lot of details.

Moonlight Sonata
Copyright: György Soponyai
Figuring out an idea to take a photo like this was easy. Years ago I saw a digital painting with the same subject: full Moon with wires of an electric pole resembling a note in a sheet music. I always wanted to "reproduce" it as a real photo.
Finding a location where a pole has four or five moreorless parallel lines in good position under the Moon was more difficult. The last months I found many "candidates" but none of them were ideal. But two weeks ago only 100 meters away from my home one of the streetlight went out and I realized I found the perfect place..

A Supernova's Web
This is a mosaic that I have been working on for the last few years. Two panels which contain 82 hours of data. Taken in Ha and OIII. This supernova remnant covers a massive area of the sky. Probably seen around 12,000 years ago by humans, who probably wondered what the new star was in the sky.

hi to all,
NGC4725 and companions in Coma Berenice -
here I tried to couple the small pixels of ASI1600 with Lacerta Photonewtons 1000mm focal length,
a pixelscale of 0,78 can reveal a lot of detail
