Near the great Eta Carina nebula is a beautiful pair of smaller nebulae, NGC 3576 (the so-called Statue of Liberty nebula) and NGC 3603. Seen here is a two-frame, mosaic in narrowband HST palette, which highlights the intricate and colorful ionization structure of these nebulae.

Great image! I did it a few years back. You captured great amount of detail. Guess, seeing was truly outstanding. Congrats!

Venus approaching their inferior conjunction
http://www.astronomica.es
Copyright: Jaime Fernandez As seen from Earth, both Mercury and Venus have phases like our moon. That's because they circle the sun inside Earth's orbit. Planets that orbit between Earth and the sun are known as inner or inferior planets.
The phases of Venus were first observed by Galileo Galilei in the early 1600s. He observed that the planet presented a complete series of phases very similar to those of the Moon, seeing at one point as a fully illuminated disk until it came to be seen like a thin sickle.
Inferior planets can never be at "opposition," which is when the planet and the sun are on opposite sides of Earth. But inferior planets can be at "conjunction," which is when a planet, the sun and Earth are all in a straight line. Conjunction can happen once when the planet is on the opposite side of the sun from Earth and again when it's on the same side of the sun as Earth. When a planet is on the opposite side of the sun from Earth, we say it is at "superior conjunction." As the planet moves out from behind the sun and gets closer to Earth, we see less and less of the lit side. We see phases, similar to our moon's phases.
Venus will pass very close to the Sun in the sky toward its own inferior conjunction on March 25 2017. Watch its crescent get thinner and thinner as the planet's size appears larger and larger, because it is getting closer to Earth.
This marks the end of Venus's apparition in the evening sky and its transition to become a morning object over the next few weeks. At closest approach, Venus will appear at a separation of only 8° from the Sun, making it totally unobservable for several weeks while it is lost in the Sun's glare.
Venus will also pass perigee – the time when it is closest to the Earth – at around the same time, since it will lie on exactly the same side of the Sun as the Earth in the Solar System. It will move to within a distance of 0.28 AU from the Earth, making it appear with its largest angular size. If it could be observed, it would measure 59.4 arcsec in diameter, whilst appearing completely unilluminated.

"The Sword of Orion"
Full Size: http://www.astrobin.com/286568/?nc=iotd
Description:
The Sword of Orion- M78, IC-434, & M42. 10 panel mosaic- an entire season of work in the Constellation of Orion.
Rising high above the Fall and Winter sky before setting in the Spring, the sword of Orion is a jewel in the night sky. An up close look at this region reveals diffuse nebula and stellar nurseries tucked securely into the dense regions of gas and debris.
Captured from Tennessee on amateur equipment over the course of December-March 2016-2017.
Personal Note:
Whew, that was close...10 panel mosaic, almost didn't finish it before it set this year from Chattanooga Tennessee. My new lifetime project. Can't wait until next year! I'll finish more panels since I was working the bugs out of my system this year. My favorite part of Orion. Nice and chunky. Let's build some spaceships and GET OUT THERE PEOPLE!
Details:
Integration per panel:
12x3min L
12x3min R
12x3min G
12x3min B
Acquisition:
Sequence Generator Pro - Mosaic wizard (8 panels)
Levels and exporting in Photoshop.
Equipment:
132 FLT William Optics
QHY 16200A CCD
Astrodon LRGB Filters
Astro-Physics Mach 1

A Coordinated Silhouette Between Ground and Sky
http://www.instagram.com/uvicastrophoto/
Copyright: UVic Astrohphotography Club Description:
One of our friends (check out his photography here: https://www.instagram.com/c_fisx/ and http://www.c-fisx.ca/) just happens to own a Cessna and is licensed to operate it, and, after dreaming of timing a shot of the moon silhouetted by an aircraft of some type for years, we finally decided that we should try and orchestrate one - an idea which is owed to a brilliant member of our club.
So in true Canadian fashion, we met at Tim Hortons and discussed the plan over coffee and Timbits one clear night with the moon relatively low on the horizon. We were equipped with a few telescopes and DSLR cameras, and a bright spotlight for signalling the aircraft. Short flashes meant our friend had to bank right to align with the moon, and longer flashes meant our friend had to bank to the left as the plane flew towards our location. No photoshop necessary!
This was the second attempt of an amazingly simple plan - needless to say us astro nerds were ecstatic and jumping up and down after we saw the plane converging with the moon and confirming the photograph in our camera's preview.
