MBM 54 Integrated Flux Nebula and NGC 7497
Copyright Scott Rosen. Website: http://www.astronomersdoitinthedark.com/
Full Resolution Version
NGC 7497 is an edge on galaxy located at a distance of 59 million light years. In this astrophoto, the galaxy is seemingly surrounded by beautiful faint nebulosity. As it happens, the nebulae is actually about 60,000 times closer to us, located in the outer reaches of our own Milky Way Galaxy. The nebulosity shown in this image is part of MBM 54.

Lunar transit of the ISS
Last Saturday I filmed a lunar transit of the ISS with my compatriot the French astronaut Thomas Pesquet inside, from Rouen (his birth city):

Retrograde Motion of Venus in 2009
This composite picture shows Venus tracing a retrograde loop in the first half of 2009. Back then, Venus passed inferior conjunction in late March after many months of performance as the Evening Star (just like it will be doing this coming March). Venus passed the highest point of its orbit above the ecliptic on 15th March 2009, just 13 days shy of inferior conjunction on 28th March 2009. Thanks to its proximity to the Earth, Venus was more than 8 degrees north of the Sun. This helped the observers in the northern hemisphere to see it in both evening and the morning for a week around the inferior conjunction.
Sun-Venus-Earth configurations repeat after every 8 days, as 13 Venus years very nearly equals 8 Earth years. So, this year's retrograde loop of Venus will be a very close copy of that of 2009.
