The Elephant Trunk Nebula is an elongated emission nebula IC 1396 in the constellation Cepheus dark globule. Located at a distance of 2,450 light-years, the globule is a condensation of dense gas that is barely surviving the strong ionizing radiation from a nearby massive star. The globule is being compressed by the surrounding ionized gas. The dark globule is seen in silhouette at wavelengths of visible light, illuminated by the light of a bright star to the left of the field of view.
The appearance of filaments globule results are the effects of sculpture competing physical processes. The winds of a massive star, located to the left of the image, producing a circular comprising the 'head' of the globule and aerodynamic tail of an edge dense gas.
A couple of young stars (349 LkHa c LkHa and 349) have been formed from the dense gas has cleared a spherical cavity inside the head of glóbulo.Podemos see the presence of a thick disk of dust around LkHa c 349. such circumstellar discs are the precursors of planetary systems. They are much thicker in the early stages of star formation when the material forming the placental planet (gas and dust) is still present.
Jets and winds of particles emitted from this star are also away the gas and dust environment. Nearly 3,000 light years distant, the relatively faint IC 1396 complex covers in the sky a much larger region than shown here, with an apparent width of more than 10 moons.

Witnessing full supermoon rise
Hi all,
November 14th 2016, sunset. Pictures were taken from Mar del Plata, an emblematic touristic city in Argentina facing the Atlantic ocean.
Picture 1 was taken before sunset and shows a group of dark clouds at low altitude over Mar del Plata city. Sun was close to reach the west horizon. The dark clouds were moving from the continent (west) to the Atlantic ocean (east) probably carrying some water from the Pacific ocean due to El Niño. Picture was taken from a breakwater.
After this capture I approached the city while the group of clouds moved in opposite direction and is now seen over the ocean (picture 2). Lots of people were preparing to enjoy the spectacle of the full supermoon rise (right edge of the photo).
Only few minutes later the clouds illuminated by the sun gave us a wonderful seen (picture 3). The east horizon looks like a mixture of cloudy sky and belt of Venus phenomenon. At that point it was hard to be optimistic about seen the moon rising, but people remained in their position.
Finally there it was! Moon rising image in the next post together with a cropped image of the previous panoramic picture I liked most, and a combination of both.
Thanks for looking!
Aldo

Milky Way over the cliffs of Torres del Paine.
On the sky we can see dust clouds of the southern Milky Way. Did you know that the cosmology of the Incas operates not only the constellations, but also the dark dust nebulae? Dark gaps in the Milky Way take pride of place in the myths and legends of the Inca civilization on a par with the stars. Do you see in the sky the llama and her baby? The fox that is chasing them? Can you see a shepherd nearby? And somewhere nearby are heard by his eternal dance even a Condor, Puma, toad, partridge and other characters... I was able(at least I think I managed to identify some of the figures.
