A painting of Earth. Our 'visual vocabulary' has vastly expanded thanks to space photography. And art thrives on these new visions.

Deep image of М94
This image is the result of collective work group of astrophotographers. By using different telescopes it has been collected about 150 hours of exposure. As a result, we can see the amazing details in the galaxy structure.
Project members: Oleg Milantiev, Vladimir (Якут), Eugeny Buklikov, СoFF, Vitar, Vladimir Vavin, Yury Toropin, Nikita Shamorgin, Nikita Kozlov, Kirill Averin.

There were at least 4 active meteor showers during the last week of July. On July 26 I saw 3 or 4 meteors per hour looking towards the galactic center, but many were missed due to the 20mm field of view, or the shutter not being open.

Space debris enters the atmosphere near Mammoth Lakes, California at 9:37 pm July 27, identified as the second stage from the first Chang Zheng 7 rocket, which was launched Jun 25. A sonic boom arrived 8 minutes later at 9:45 pm.
The image was captured on a Canon EOS 6D camera and Canon 14mm f/2.8 lens. I was all set up facing north, just about to start a star trails shot, when I saw a light behind me. I quickly swiveled the camera on the tripod and hit the shutter release to capture this 30-second exposure.
