This is amazing, you really get a feel for the dust in this area! Not only is there the Rho Ophiuchi area but there is also the giant Zeta Ophiuchi emission nebula above it.Erictheastrojunkie wrote:Milky Way Core and Rho Ophiuchi Complex Nebulosity

Thanks, it really is my favorite part of the night sky, so colorful and full of spectacular objects to wonder at.starsurfer wrote: This is amazing, you really get a feel for the dust in this area! The other great thing about this region is that is suits imagers at all imaging scales. There is something for 32 inch telescopes on a mountain in Chile and 4 inch widefield scopes in a backyard.Erictheastrojunkie wrote:Thanks, it really is my favorite part of the night sky, so colorful and full of spectacular objects to wonder at.starsurfer wrote: This is amazing, you really get a feel for the dust in this area! The bright object that lit up the sky over southern New Zealand on the 19th.
What was first thought to be a Meteor turned out to be the re-entry of a Soyuz upper stage (NORAD #41671, COSPAR 2016-045B)
Taken with my allsky cam.
